Melinda had some great points on what you might describe as President Obama's "Afghan straddle"--a most difficult dance.

The conservatives have often presented the line "If a war is worth fighting, it is worth winning." The middle ground, as Melinda says, is probably the worst option of all. Go strong or go home sounds like the best way to approach it.

Either way, more young men will die.

The troops support Obama, regardless of what the GOP spins! The United States Military is not a subsidiary of the Republican party. Supporting the troops is not a yellow ribbon from the dollar store, or posturing pandering and photo ops.

The United States military need a mission and strategy, which they were never given by Bush and Cheney. War needs thought especially when over 100,000 men and women were sent into combat underfunded and unequipped.

The Military is broken and there aren't enough troop to increase the force really really needed.

Obama inherited two wars and the worst financial disaster in 65 years. The Republicans inclusing John McCain stated that they didn't have the answers; therefore why would Obama. He is doing the best he can with what is left of the United States Military.

There was a reson Cheney was called Vice.

SIt's a tough time for the soldiers and Americans in general. His toughest decision during all of this is which iron to use from where his ball sits. His decisions so far in his entire career have been based on what will help him politically. I'm being honest with everyone, and especially myself, when I say that he is, by far, the most dishonest, inept and purposely deceitful leader we've had so far - and that includes Bush!

We have more than enough power to do the job in Afghanistan. When you allow politicians to play games with the Generals, the troops, and the public, you don't win wars.
This war has been dealt with by the Democrats and this Administration ever since 2006 as a damn political football. Idiots, liars, and incompetent fools.
