A Second Arkansas Senate Poll Shows Different Outlook for Lincoln

A Rasmussen Reports poll earlier today showed two-term Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln statistically-tied or running behind four potential Republican opponents, but a new Daily Kos/Research 2000 survey conducted Nov. 30 - Dec. 2 has Lincoln tied with or ahead of all four. Another difference between the two polls is the much larger numbers of undecideds. The poll was conducted Nov. 30.

Although the Daily Kos/Research 2000 numbers are somewhat kinder to Lincoln, they are not encouraging for an incumbent.

Lincoln leads state Sen. Kim Hendren 46 percent to 30 percent with 24 percent undecided.

She's in a statistical dead heat with former Arkansas GOP chairman Gilbert Baker, leading him 42 percent to 41 percent with 17 percent undecided. The margin of error is 4 points.

She is ahead of businessman Curtis Coleman 44 percent to 39 percent with 17 percent undecided.

She leads Tea Party activist Tom Cox by 45 percent to 31 percent with 24 percent undecided.

Lincoln is regarded unfavorably by 50 percent of voters and favorably by 41 percent with 9 percent undecided. Her favorability rating was also in negative figures in the Rasmussen poll.

For each of the Republicans, a plurality of the voters did not know enough about them to offer a favorable or unfavorable opinion.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
