South Carolina Panel Decides Against Impeaching Gov. Mark Sanford

It's funny how a lot of people are willing to look the other way with Tiger Woods, but let a Governor or President have an indiscretion, people just go crazy! I am sorry they didn't throw Sanford out of office - he should be running out with his tail between his legs!

All of the people who are in the public eye NEED to present themselves in a professional, correct manner. If they are found to be lacking in self control, break the law or get caught cheating, lieing or stealing then THEY MUST BE PUNISHED. I guess his cronies in South Carolina covered for him. What does this teach our children?

Governor Sanford should just simply resign. Let the 2nd in command be sworn in. That is what he or she is there for, to take over when the sitting governor leaves office for whatever reason(s). Since he has no intentions of resigning, perhapps he should be encouraged to do so. Maybe Reverend Billy Graham could be persuaded to talk to Governor Sanford to convince him to resign. It seems not many big name Republicans are saying anything about Governor Sanford's infidelity. LOL! Maybe they also have skeletons in their closets. Mum's the word, no?

Geez, for Sanford's sake, I hope they don't find out that the chick in Argentina was actually a dude (like Argentina's "woman of the year"). . .

This is a perfect example of what is wrong with our country today and why we are in such a state of destruction. There is no accountability, no responsibility and no morals. Yea, Clinton set a precedent but it's time to expect and demand more of our leaders. Until we demand that or leaders behave in an acceptable manner we will never be better than we are right now, one thing leads to another and what we have now is disrespect for the citizens, no morals, greed and too much ego.

Joe Wilson, Mark Sanford et al. Way to go voters. Cautionary tale for the voters. Pay attention to who you're voting for.

This is an unfortunate situation, but one where women should really listen to his wife. She has been in my mind one of the most stand up straight, face the pain, save her dignity and leave him with their four children. He was given a warning back in January when she found out. She said that if he ever saw her again that she would leave. She stood by her word 100% and is an example of clear cut boundaries. I am very very pleased to see this. Of course I am not happy that he has messed up his entire family. However, this woman was well education, a housewife, but was very willing to jump in the fire to start her life all over again, not willing to put up with his less than perfection lifestyle. The hint: Men and Women, there are consequences when you cheat on your spouse. You took marriage vows for a reason. If you want to cheat, do not involve anyone and leave your husband and/or wife before. You cannot have your cake and eat it too, regardless of how many women fall back because of economic or emotional reasons. This must have been a very hard emotional decision for Ms. Sanford. Congratulations, and I am not sure if you are divorced, but you have shown the women in America and all over the world that no one is above the law. Thank you for that.

Was the panel made up of long time political buddies Gov. Mark Sanford. If this Panel believes that misuse of travel and campaign funds to have a affair on the taxpayers dime is not considered a impeachable offense, then this panel has truly demonstrated how corrupt South Carolina politics has become.

He had an affair and because he is a republican he doesn't get impeached. Yet the President of the United States does the same thing and he gets impeached because he happened to be a Democrat. I hate republicans, everything is thier way or the highway. Bush (Republican) raped the American public and sent us into a depression but all the republicans said we have to stand behind our president in war time. Now they take every chance they get to undermine our present president in war time, because he is a democrat. Until Republicans start living what they preach I have no respect for them.

Foul! Foul! Foul! The man abandoned his post for a whole week! No one knew where he was! It doesn't matter that he did it to pursue his illicit love interest. Doesn't it matter that he was derelict in his duties? These bozo legislators are putting the emphasis on the governor's sex-capades rather than on his true crime. Illinois legislators acted swiftly to get rid of their tainted governor. Sarah Palin resigned rather than let her state continue to undergo the intense scrutiny of ethics investigations and lawsuits. This fool in SC abandons his post, refuses to resign, and SC legislators are letting him get away with it with a slap on the wrist. It is time for the good people of SC to launch a recall. And don't forget the legislative a$$holes who chose to keep this executive a$$hole in office. Throw 'em all out. The garbage stinks.
