Though the Washington Post must have accidentally edited out that detail in today's feature story about her, Helena Andrews, the author of the hot new memoir, "Bitch is the New Black," is a valued member of our little coven of uppity women here on WomanUp.
Helena is news because the talented young woman sold her as-yet-unpublished manuscript to Hollywood, where Shonda Rhimes, creator of TV's "Grey's Anatomy," plans to turn it into a huge hit.
As women who support the success and accomplishments of our sisters, we are super proud (and a teensy bit jealous) of Helena and thrilled that she has been invited to write the screenplay based on her book. (Not only will she create narrative in a fun new format, the screenwriters' guild negotiates a much higher pay scale than the lady bloggers' union.)
For those who can't wait for the June 2010 publication from HarperCollins or the feature film that will follow, samples of Helena Andrews' witty WomanUp wisdom can be found here, here and here.
Click below to watch the Washington Post video of Helena. Congrats, dear, and though you are even lovelier in person, the pictures are awesome, too.
