Kirk leads Cheryle Jackson, who is on leave of absence as president of the Chicago Urban League, by 42 percent to 39 percent with 4 percent preferring someone else and 15 percent undecided. He also leads David Hoffman, who left his job as Chicago Inspector General to enter the race, by 42 percent to 38 percent with 3 percent preferring someone else and 17 percent undecided.
Kirk is seen favorably by 50 percent of voters and unfavorably by 32 percent with 17 percent "not sure" of their opinion of him. Giannoulias is seen favorably by 48 percent and unfavorably by 36 percent with 16 percent not sure. Jackson and Hoffman are clearly lesser know with 27 percent and 32 percent respectively not sure enough about who they are to express an opinion.
