Lincoln Below 40 percent in Arkansas Senate Match-Ups

Support for Arkansas' Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln is hanging just below 40 percent as she faces her fight for a third term, putting her behind four Republican candidates matched up against her in a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted Jan. 5.

Lincoln's vulnerability is tied in part to the health care debate in Washington and has made her a somewhat shaky member of the 60 senators the Democrats need to get overhaul legislation passed. Sixty percent for Arkansas voters oppose the package being advocated by President Obama and congressional Democrats with 51 percent putting themselves in the "strongly" oppose category.

State Sen. Kim Hendren leads Lincoln 47 percent to 39 percent with 4 percent preferring someone else and 10 percent undecided. Former state GOP chairman Gilbert Baker bests her 51 percent to 39 percent with 3 percent preferring someone else and 7 percent undecided. Businessman Curtis Coleman leads her 48 percent to 38 percent with 4 percent preferring another candidate and 9 percent undecided. Tea Party activist Tom Cox is ahead of her 48 percent to 38 percent with 5 percent preferring someone else and 9 percent undecided.
