Charlie Crist for the GOP's Senate nomination, is leading Christ 49 percent to 37 percent among likely primary voters with 3 percent preferring some other candidate and 11 percent undecided, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted Jan. 27. The margin of error is 5 points.
Crist, who started the race as a heavy favorite saw his support fall from 53 percent in August to 49 percent in October. In December, he was tied with Rubio at 43 percent each.
Rasmussen says Rubio is carrying 52 percent of the conservative GOP vote, while moderates prefer Crist.
Both men are running ahead of Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek by double-digit margins in general election match-ups.
A Quinnipiac University poll conducted Jan. 20-24 had shown Rubio edging ahead by 47 percent to 44 percent among registered Republicans with 8 percent undecided. The margin of error was 2.4 points. In October, Crist had led 50 percent to 35 percent in Quinnipiac's survey and last June was ahead 54 percent to 23 percent.
