Moran Slightly Widens Lead Over Tiahrt in Race for Kansas GOP Senate Nod
Bruce Drake
Rep. Jerry Moran is leading Rep. Todd Tiahrt for the GOP nomination to succeed Kansas Republican Sen. Sam Brownback, besting him 40 percent to 33 percent with 27 percent undecided, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted Jan. 29-31. The margin of error is 4.4 points. Brownback is running for governor.
SurveyUSA says that's a modest bump upwards for Moran since its last poll.
The two run evenly among conservatives (62 percent of the sample), but Moran has a 47 percent to 25 percent advantage among moderates, who make up 29 percent of the sample. Twenty-nine percent of moderates are undecided.
