Scott Brown to be Sworn In Thursday; Filibuster-Proof Majority Is Over for Dems

Scott Brown will be sworn in to the U.S. Senate on Thursday afternoon, an aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid confirmed to The Hill. "Once we get his certificate we expect to swear him in [Thursday] afternoon as early as 5 o'clock, which is earlier than he suggested," Jim Manley told the paper.
Brown was scheduled to be sworn in next week, but on Wednesday asked Massachusetts officials to send his certification documents to Washington as soon as possible.
When Brown is sworn in, he will become the 41st Republican in the Senate and will bring an end to the Democrats' filibuster-proof majority of 60 seats.
