The guest list for the White House Super Bowl Party on Sunday is as bipartisan as the congressional vote on health care reform.
Only one GOP congressman is on the guest list – Louisiana Republican Rep. Joseph Cao. And he's the only Republican in the House or Senate who supported health care legislation.
Naturally, Cao will be rooting for New Orleans. He told
The Washington Post he had tickets to the big game between the Saints and Indianapolis Colts in Miami but gave them up when the call came from the White House.
"Actually, my daughters [5 and 6 years old] are more excited because they want to see the president's daughters," Cao said.
Democratic Reps. Andre Carson, Brad Ellsworth, and Baron Hill will represent Indiana, according to the official guest list released by the White House Friday.
Also on the list are Democratic Reps. Barbara Lee and Xavier Becerra from California, Virginia Rep. Rick Boucher. Connecticut's Chris Dodd will be the only senator at the party.
Service personnel injured in Iraq and Afghanistan will also attend, as will a number of Cabinet members, the White House said.
President Obama told
ABC's Diane Sawyer last week that he's pulling for the Saints.
"I guess I'm rooting a little bit for the Saints as the underdog, partly just because, when I think about what's happened to New Orleans over the last several years, and how much that team means to them, I'm pretty sympathetic," Obama said.
