Hillary Clinton, speaking Monday in Qatar, said the Obama administration believes that the government of Iran is in danger of being supplanted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the
Washington Post reports.
"We see that the government of Iran, the supreme leader, the president, the parliament is being supplanted and that Iran is moving toward a military dictatorship," the secretary of state told students at Carnegie Mellon's Doha campus.
She told reporters she believes the current civilian leadership is too "preoccupied" by opposition protests to recognize the increasing power of guard, which is heavily involved in Tehran's nuclear and missile programs.
Clinton is in Qatar to speak at the U.S.-Islamic World Forum.
