Is Bristol Palin going Hollywood on us?
Palin, an unwed 19-year-old mother and daughter of GOP luminary Sarah Palin, will make her acting debut this summer, guest-starring as herself in an episode of the ABC Family drama "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," The Washington Post
The show deals with the unexpected pregnancy of a 15-year-old. Palin, who says she's "thrilled to be on this show," will play a friend of the main character.
Bristol Palin's real-life mother, the former governor of Alaska and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, has had big problems with the entertainment industry -- in the past.
After comedian David Letterman mocked her family last June with a sex joke, Sarah Palin said New York and Hollywood entertainers have "a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands" about what's funny. And in her farewell address as governor, she predicted "anti-hunting, anti-Second Amendment circuses from Hollywood" would use starlets to drum up opposition to gun rights.
Nevertheless, Bristol Palin has made a job choice that puts her in the employ of a Disney cable network, making money from a show that gives the Hollywood treatment to teen pregnancy, Post television reporter Lisa de Moraes writes.
