After two polls showing Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter leading former Republican Rep. Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania's Senate race, a Susquehanna Polling and Research survey conducted March 3-6 has Toomey in the lead by 42 percent to 36 percent with 4 percent preferring another choice and 18 percent undecided. The margin of error is 3.7 points.

A Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll conducted March 8-10 had Specter ahead 47 percent to 41 percent, while a Quinnipiac University poll put Specter's margin over Toomey at 49 percent to 42 percent. The Susquehanna and Research 2000 polls tested likely voters while Quinnipiac surveyed registered voters.

Toomey gets the support of 75 percent of fellow Republicans while Specter gets only 59 percent of Democrats. Susquehanna also says that Toomey leads Specter 43 percent to 33 percent among those who voted in the last three of four statewide elections.
