The polls continue to disagree over who is leading in Pennsylvania Senate race, with a new Rasmussen Reports poll putting former Republican Rep. Pat Toomey ahead of Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter by 49 percent to 40 percent with 5 percent preferring another choice and 7 percent undecided. The survey, conducted March 15, is in line with a Susquehanna Polling and Research poll conducted March 3-6 that had Toomey ahead 42 percent to 36 percent.
But two other recent polls had Specter ahead. A Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll conducted March 8-10 had Specter ahead 47 percent to 41 percent, and a Quinnipiac University poll put Specter's margin over Toomey at 49 percent to 42 percent. The Susquehanna and Research 2000 polls tested likely voters while Quinnipiac surveyed registered voters. Rasmussen surveyed likely voters.
