Blanche Lincoln Holds Modest Lead Over Bill Halter in Arkansas Primary Race

As Tuesday's primary approaches, Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln is leading Lt. Gov. Bill Halter 46 percent to 37 percent with 6 percent for another candidate and 11 percent undecided, according to a Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll conducted May 10-12. The margin of error is 4 points.

That's roughly the same margin as in the previous Research 2000 poll, although each of them have picked up two points of support as the number of undecideds start to go down.

On the Republican side, Rep. John Boozman is way ahead of three other contenders with 46 percent. The closest candidate to him is Jim Holt who was Lincoln's GOP opponent in 2004. Holt polls 19 percent. Other candidates draw a combined 18 percent with 13 percent undecided.

Despite Holt's lead, he still needs to get to 50 percent to avoid a runoff as does Lincoln or Halter.

In general election match-ups, Boozman has double-digit leads over both Lincoln and Halter -- 54 percent to 40 percent over Lincoln, and 50 percent to 41 percent over Halter.

The match-ups between Lincoln and Halter and the other Republican contenders are within or near the margin of error.
