Carly Fiorina Caught on Open Mic Making Fun of Barbara Boxer's Hair

Carly Fiorina won big in Tuesday's California Senate primary and wasted no time making her first gaffe of the general election -- getting caught on an open mic making fun of her opponent Sen. Barbara Boxer's hairstyle.

While getting made up for an appearance on Sacramento's KXTV-TV Wednesday morning, Fiorina checks her phone and banters with people off camera. She off-handedly mentions that a friend "saw Barbara Boxer briefly on television this morning and said what everyone says, 'God, what is that hair?'"

"Sooo yesterday," Fiorina dishes, laughing, before stopping short as someone off camera points out the mic.

Earlier in the video, Fiorina responds to an off-camera comment with a smile, saying, " Hello, Barbara."

As the video starts, Fiorina wonders about GOP gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman's decision to be interviewed on Fox News by Sean Hannity.

"I think it's bizarre -- I mean she's never been on Sean Hannity. I think it's a very bad choice actually. You know how he is," Fiorina said. "Sean Hannity is not an easy interview."

A spokesperson for Fiorina downplayed the comments.

"This was nothing but early morning small talk," Fiorina campaign press secretary Amy Thoma said in an e-mail to CNN.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

Not a big deal!!! It was just a silly, catty, girl comment! It has nothing to
do with the real issues, and once again, the Libs are looking for something
to whine about.
Barbara Boxer IS a collosal failure, and has been causing damage to our country
for too long. I hope that Carly Fiorina will stay on the issues and clearly articulate her conservative principles and tell the truth, (AND avoid the personal attack nonsense, which is where the left would like to take her)
If she does stick to the serious issues facing this country and what she would
like to do as the next senator fro California, I believe she will be elected.

I agree with others that Carly Fiorina's comment was totally elementary school mentality. She should talk with her boy hair cut. If memory serves, this is the same woman who was fired from Hewlett Packard for her incompetence. Now, she wants to buy her way into the senate. I have met Barbara Boxer several times at a dinner and at a formal meeting wherein I had the honor of presenting a video of the damage oil drilling caused to the California coast. We traveled to Santa Barbara and literally picked up tar balls from it's beaches. Ms. Boxer was and is gracious and vibrant and very, very knowledgeable. She is passionately concerned about California. I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican, but I do support Ms. Boxer any day over Ms. Fiorina's false promises. Her pettiness just revealed her for who she is.

With everything that is happening in the world, that's what Carly comes up with. It's ironic that the woman who was literally "thrown out" of HP is trying to run for the senate. HP's financials have improved considerably since she left.

Barbara my opinion, is even uglier on the inside than she is on the outside, and I'm sure thst takes a great deal of effort on her part. Vote the wench OUT!

Is this a race to the bottom in terms of vacuous prattle?
Ms Fiorina seems to have nothing intelligent to say.
