So we've had much hot air and pounding of chests everywhere."These are the questions that know no answer: When is a fetus a baby? At what point precisely does a fetus become a child in the womb? When does this seed become a human being? These are not scientific questions requiring scientific answers. These are moral questions, existential questions. We can't find the final definitive answer." Luisita what you say is nonsense! Here are some real final scientific and definitive answers: Prenatal persons are identical to postnatal persons, both living human babies. The birth event simply exposes the already existent life! Conception is the beginning of the human life cycle! Once the egg is fertilized it become a zygote, which is human life with all the information and life force that is required to become the complete person it is already becoming. The Zygote is becoming the fetus which is becoming the child exactly as a child is becoming the teenager then adult. Yes these are scientific questions and scientific answers. Because reality is not subject to feelings or beliefs. These are known scientific facts, not unknown moral or existential questions or beliefs.

So why not try to Apply some of that Negativity to the strong women of the GOP women, by referring to them as "feminists".. Yep, they are "transparent"..

the last paragraph says it all, ok, you think you're somehow superior to me. fine, i'm sure your worship will pardon me for not wanting to know you or your kind.
Ms. Torregrosa, you write "We all know of too many such cases. We know women who have repeated abortions because becoming a mother is not convenient, or because they have sex so freely they can't keep up with birth control, or because they realized late they are pregnant and are willing to have an abortion when they are past their first trimester." Really? I'm a 54 year old woman and know a number of women, who for one reason or another, terminated pregnancies when they were younger. NONE of them fit into the catagory you describe. I believe there are some women like you describe but they are an extreme minority. I think by saying "we all know women..." perpetuates the myth that the majority of women take this decision lightly. I've never met a woman who woke up one morning, and with the same concern she'd give to chosing a pair of shoes suddenly decides, "I think I'll have an abortion today!" To the contrary...the women I know who've had to make this difficult choice have done so only after weighing all their options...and have never taken that decision making process lightly.

At least it wasn't yet another article aimed at changing the conservative woman's mind. And I also appreciated the responses I've read so far. It always strikes me as bizarre that we have come so far and have gotten so smart about so many things...yet the issue of abortion remains. if you get pregnant and want the baby, then it's a baby, no matter what stage of pregnancy. If you don't want to be pregnant, then it's a fetus...a blob of tissue. Really? And I would respond to the whole issue of women would rather tell about drunken sex orgies or whatever before admitting to abortion...that, in and of itself should say something...not that it's taboo - but you have chosen to kill your baby - a part of you...that might have your same blue eyes, blonde hair, brown eyes, brunette, olive skin...most women regret their choice and whish for a do-over. May we reach the place of knowing we should support the one who gets pregnant, financially or thru adoption, but let us take murder out of the equation.

At what point precisely does a fetus become a child in the womb? When does this seed become a human being?”.
If there was a definition giving the precise moment that a fetus becomes a baby, or a child in the womb, would it really matter? Aren’t they in essence the same thing? Isn’t it enough to know that at the moment of conception, a unique human life begins, all human chromosomes are present? Their unique human “blueprint” is a part of that first cell. And as for the last question “When does this seed become a human being?” How can this even come into question? Has a human mother ever given birth to anything other than a human baby? If the mother and father are human, their offspring is going to be human. We are in a stage of development from the moment of conception until puberty.
We reach maturity, but we continue to change and the time comes when a woman is no longer able to reproduce. Does there come a time when we loose our humanity? Or is it just that it's necessary to dehumanize the fetus so that abortion seems justifiable?
"It's really simple: it's the belief that women have the right to their own bodies, minds and politics, that they are legally, morally, physically and intellectually equal to men, at least that – or better!"
Actually, the believe that women are "better" than men isn't feminism but rather female supremacy.
Also, a number of those who claim to believe in a woman's right to her own body place rather bizarre qualifiers on this position. Let that same woman choose to inject drugs, pose for nude pictures or sell sexual favors on the street. Then suddenly her "rights" vanish in the eyes of many self-proclaimed feminists.
Feminism in my many years of careful observation has never been about women wanting equal rights--it's about women demanding superior rights (which they feel is only natural since they believe they are superior to us poor men folk).
It's fine for women to damand the right to choose whether or not to have an abbortion. If that choice is to be hers and hers alone then it follows that the responsibility for the consequences of that choice should be hers and hers alone.
Anyone who thinks the feminist movement/agenda is about equality for women should see me abut some nice beach front property in Mojave!
Feminism, the brainwashing affect that dispels all natural instinct, to produce a selfish creature that will kill its own young for convenience.

June 17 2010 at 2:29 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySad but true.. Yet, I hear of many of those women who bear the emotional & spiritual scars from those abortions with a tremendous lifelong sense of sadness & shame.. I wish that more of them could realize the forgiveness & peace which can be found through God, and through caring Christian organizations, etc who are there for them.
