He presented an update on the current containment strategy, highlighting official projections that the latest efforts should capture up to 90 percent of the oil leaking from the well over the next few weeks. The president characterized the spill as an epidemic, saying, "Make no mistake: we will fight this spill with everything we've got for as long it takes. We will make BP pay for the damage their company has caused. And we will do whatever's necessary to help the Gulf Coast and its people recover from this tragedy."How do you defend the usual Obama too little too late response?

The corp of engineers did nothing until it broke. The goverment should be setting up a fund (20b) to replace the homes that were damaged and jobs lost due to their lack of insite.

Aside from the obvious clean up and claims that have to be paid, the dispersant chemicals being used look like food to the fish. The fish eat the chemicals we then eat the fish. The long term health care cost of this man made disaster is immeasurable.

Politics seem to be more important to this president than the preservation of this nation. I don't know if this is true but I heard Kevin Costner offered his recovery boats from day one and many other private contractors with recovery equipment offered help but they were non union.........also US friendly countries also offered help and were declined. If this is true, he should be impeached........he's only good at delivering speeches not acting as someone in the best interests of the US

This disaster will be with us for 50 years and our government, especially the President is 100% to blame.
Obama is more concerned about scoring political points than solving the problem. As usual...
June 16 2010 at 11:06 PM Report abuse Permalink +19 rate up rate down ReplyOther countries have offered help, ships, skimmer, etc from day 1. Obama refused it because he has to suspend the Jones act that refuses to allow foreign vessels to work in our waters. Bush signed it immediately after Katrina. He asked for help and accepted everything he could get. Obama won't do it because the unions don't want him to sign it. Do your home work and you people would know why we aren't getting help. It's because Obama won't take what they have offered.
