Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Democrats had rejected a Republican alternative that would have financed the costly bill by making cuts in other government spending, The Washington Post said. No mention made of supporting small business owners or others who actually employ workers other than gov't related jobs. Another effort to further transfer money from one American to another by edict. Most municipalities support their fire, police, etc. with money from property tax. What are the numbers of property owners doing in most cities? Certainly the property values have not gone up. I fear that real sources of income growth are rapidly disappearing and we may be beyond turning this around.
July 01 2010 at 12:16 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyNo doubt the republicans would have passed TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY but when it comes to helping the unemployed they are the PARTY OF NO.
June 27 2010 at 1:52 PM Report abuse Permalink -2 rate up rate down ReplyThe dems should have just passed the reps bill that would have extended benefits with a way to pay for it. Instead they voted it down 57-41. Why are the dems playing politics with the unemployed?
June 26 2010 at 7:45 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down ReplyBut why not go ahead and pass the bill? It would extend befefits and it's not going to add the debt.
June 27 2010 at 2:16 PM Report abuse Permalink -1 rate up rate down ReplyOf course he will blame the GOP...who else is he gonna blame? ...himself,? the dems?
Oh ...wait a minute...blame the tea party people and ....the public while you're at it. Yea that's it....they really don't know what is best for them ...we do!!
Now why would Senate Republicans pass a bill to help those in dire straits? The unemployed are lazy, didn't they say?
June 26 2010 at 10:54 AM Report abuse Permalink -2 rate up rate down ReplyThese republicans are playing political games with the lives of Americans at stake. If a vote came up for a tax break for the wealthy and big business they would fight to be the first in line to vote yea.If they all donated their campaign contributions from special interest there would probably be enough to balance the budget. They better watch out for the blowback come election time.
June 26 2010 at 7:39 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyRepubs hate the working middle class. They only care about tax cuts for the top 2%. No unemployment for the workers, but repubs do want to give billions in estate tax cuts now.
June 26 2010 at 12:29 AM Report abuse Permalink -2 rate up rate down ReplyI am a Republican middle class and I don't hate myself or any other middle class American. I care about tax cuts for everyone. It puts more money in my pocket. I spend more money, paying other taxes that generate revenues for the government. It allows businessowners, large and small to hire, pay wages, pay overhead costs, like training employees, staying currentby being able to purchase up to date equipment, purchasing power, all of it. It's what makes the economy flurish. If the government wanted people to go back to work they would stop legislating and punishing the private business sector. With all the bills, whether you believe it or not, this government has hindered businessowners. They aren't hiring, nor are they growing .
You tell me how this jobs bill would have benefitted all Americans not just government employees. How would it save jobs? There are none to save. How would it have benefitted familys in need? This was nothing more or less than another spending bill. More welfare to humiliate and slap down every American who wants to work.
Why dont they just pass the unemployment extension portion of the bill which is only $35 billion and save all the other stuff in the bill to be faught out. From everything I read, both the Democrats & republicians agree on the unemployment extension...its all the other stuff (that brings the total of the bill to $112 billion) that the republicians are having a problem with because of the price tag and there is nothing in the bill addressing where this extra money will come from.
June 25 2010 at 10:16 PM Report abuse Permalink +18 rate up rate down ReplyCome on people , we all know someone who is out of work . Not everyone is lazy as the GOP would want you to believe . I have a few friends who have worked all their lives and can't find a job ... They wont forget this I promise you ...
June 25 2010 at 9:13 PM Report abuse Permalink -10 rate up rate down ReplyJust more proof of the republican agenda, I know many people who are out of work and need help . People who have never collected anything in their lives. Once again the republicans stabbed them in the back and they will noy forget ...
