Lady Viagra and Lust: Sex Pill for Women Arouses Batty Ideas

Sex talk always brings out lies, theories, stereotypes and all sorts of guesswork – especially about women's sexuality. Lately everyone is babbling about Lady Viagra, a pill that might do for women what the little blue pill Viagra does for men – give them eternal sexual energy. Just think!
Not so fast. The Food and Drug Administration, as my colleague Alison Fairbrother discusses, recently held up the marketing of the drug flibanserin in the United States, but allowed more research and conceded that the female pill may have some benefits.
Though it's not yet available, there's been no end of speculation and hype and spin about the pill and the sexual atrophy it hopes to cure.
Over the weekend, Natasha Singer suggested, in The New York Times business section, that women may not need an Rx, but rather better-trained men. Over in the opinions section, Camille Paglia, who has built a controversial career writing and lecturing about women and sexuality, had several theories, some more sane than others. Among the not so sane, she placed blame on "a bourgeois white culture that values efficient bodies over voluptuous ones . . . Contrast that with Latino and African-American taste, which runs toward the healthy silhouette of the bootylicious Beyonce."

She continued: "A class issue in sexual energy may be suggested by the apparent striking popularity of Victoria's Secret and its racy lingerie among multiracial lower-middle-class and working-class patrons . . ."
Incredible!
In a couple of broad-brush sentences, Paglia plays to the worst stereotypes about the sexual energy of Latinos and African-Americans. We also have rhythm, are born doing the mambo and wear baskets of fruit on our heads while we swing our hips to the samba. We have sex day and night.As my colleague Mary C. Curtis said, "Yeah, everyone knows darker dames are so in touch with our animal natures – must be the heat . . . "
Amazing that in this day and age Paglia has the gall to come out with such lazy thinking and be taken seriously. She dumps all Hispanics and African-Americans into one sexually hot pile.
Now, Beyonce is a gorgeous and talented woman, but forgive me, she's not the ideal woman of all Latinos or of all African-Americans. We've got skinny women we like, too, and small-breasted women and narrow-hipped women.

Paglia, who thrives on excess, suggests that high sexual energy ("a class issue") belongs to the multiracial lower classes. That's a doozy.
She carves up the "overachieving white upper middle class" as physically suppressed, doing "the same, mind-based work" with neutered men and ambitious childless women.
We are left with an image of two starkly separate sexual worlds: the robotics of the white upper middle class, drained of blood and spirit, and the steamy Latinos and African-Americans, lusting to get it on.
No wonder we need a pill.

A hickey is not a Mickey (Finn). The best action results when two people with a genuine interest in one another "click", and no Mickey Finn nor roofie is necessary.
Women are from Venus and men from Mars. Imagine coaxing you wife or live in to go this way? What on earth would possess her to change except for some guilt complex or fear of divorce/breakup. All the wrong reasons. Imagine this as a hickey in some drink. No need for date rape when the woman may be after you!. Heck imagine girl friends slipping their way too cool/poised friend with a hickey just to see the action. (Think not, that is a Mars idea) Next question, what turns her off once she is up? Don't know many men with sufficient tooling to endure after their actions. Think that would be more upsetting to the lady if you rolled over and said good night!
