"We were so excited about the tremendous success of the first convention, we jumped into this second convention without considering the timing. The heat in Las Vegas in July is keeping many who would like to participate from attending," organizers wrote. "We have also received numerous emails from people who were forced to decide between family vacations and attending the convention."The first Tea Party convention, in Nashville in February, featured former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as keynote speaker.
That has to be a bit humiliating!

Perhaps they're away on "vacation"? Incidentally, who's minding the cookie jar?
The Tea Party movement would have felt more comfortable with Alexander Hamilton's vision of what the US would become, not Jefferson's vision.

June 29 2010 at 8:08 PM Report abuse Permalink -3 rate up rate down ReplyYes, sort of...not only should the Bush Tax Cuts expire on the wealthy, but the wealthy should be made to carry a heavier load of the tax burden. We are a nation that has an embarrassing disparity of wealth between the top and the bottom...that is not economic justice.

June 29 2010 at 8:02 PM Report abuse Permalink +3 rate up rate down ReplyIt would really be sad ,to have a national tea party convention, and no one showed up.

June 29 2010 at 7:59 PM Report abuse Permalink +4 rate up rate down ReplyThey may need to go to the website and make corrections about the information, after admitting they did not have enough participation. They tell us about the postmoment due to poor planning, but then go on with the rest of the information as if the event would still be in the summer. I can respect the efforts, but take a few moments to get your act together.

South Carolina, you're up next! Congress, what does this tell you? 10% of your Countrymen are in favor of telling you where to go! That's more than 30,000,000 people!!! Hellooooo? Are you listening Senators & Representatives?
June 29 2010 at 7:45 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down ReplySarah Palin has a very smart agent. Resign as governor of Alaska, write a book,(well, have someone write a book for you) and endorse candidates in state primary elections that are miles ahead of their opponents. Then claim that your endorsement put them "over the top." I used the word smart. That is too kind. The word is conniving. But it never seems to amaze me how many dupes are duped by a person who didn't even complete a term of the office she was elected to. Sarah Palin is a celebrity. The Lady Gaga of politics. Flashy, but not too much under the hood.
June 29 2010 at 7:42 PM Report abuse Permalink +5 rate up rate down ReplyAmericans are too busy "going on vacation" to concern themselves with what is wrong with our government. It's exactly that kind of apathy that got us into this mess in the first place! What is wrong with these people?
June 29 2010 at 7:39 PM Report abuse Permalink +3 rate up rate down ReplyIf you don't agree with lower taxes, then give more of your money to the IRS freely and openly. Make your family and friends proud and put your money where your mouth is IF YOU support the current TAX situation. Tea Partiers do not support the current situation with taxes.
