Of course, it depends on who they're really polling. I'm a true independent, and in the last couple of years I've run into dozens of so-called independents who I know are closet Republicans who backed Bush vehemently pre-Obama.
July 07 2010 at 11:55 PM Report abuse Permalink -3 rate up rate down ReplyObama never had Republicans. He's lost Independents are conservative Democrats. He's in BIG trouble...
July 07 2010 at 11:33 PM Report abuse Permalink +22 rate up rate down Replythe only poll that counts is the one on november 4th :)
July 07 2010 at 9:46 PM Report abuse Permalink +10 rate up rate down ReplyCould someone tell me where the 38% are located? I kee hearing that they are still in favor of this president, but I never hear any of those people's comments.
Are they just too embarassed to admit it?
If he keeps up his nonsense about the border, Obama will bring new definition to the words "low marks."
July 07 2010 at 6:01 PM Report abuse Permalink +31 rate up rate down ReplyI am an Independent!.....I voted and I better see CHANGE.....like border security!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!this is where the honeymoon WILL STOP. SECURE THE BORDERS.......THEN WE WILL TALK ABOUT IMMIGRATION

July 07 2010 at 4:42 PM Report abuse Permalink +33 rate up rate down ReplyYeah the Harvard faculty is going to run the country now. I don't think the independents expected that.
July 07 2010 at 4:57 PM Report abuse Permalink +24 rate up rate down ReplyConsidering the hatchet job FOX NEWS and much of TALK RADIO do on him every day his numbers are holding fairly steady.
July 07 2010 at 3:49 PM Report abuse Permalink -39 rate up rate down ReplyDoes this sound like steady numbers? "Obama had the approval of 56 percent of independents in July 2009, a number that slipped to 44 percent this spring and now is at 38 percent in Gallup's latest tracking poll". Looks like a steady decline.
July 07 2010 at 9:36 PM Report abuse Permalink +21 rate up rate down ReplyGeez andrc657, that's one TV network and just a couple of radio stations. The rest of them faun over him. Bush got more criticism from the lame main stream media and his numbers didn't drop like Obama's have.
July 07 2010 at 10:42 PM Report abuse Permalink +18 rate up rate down ReplyIt is a temporary new low folks -- there are lower numbers to follow!
July 07 2010 at 3:45 PM Report abuse Permalink +48 rate up rate down ReplyHis ratings will continue at these low points with all parties and may dip even further as time goes on. This country is not and has never been this left of center in it's history. Carter tried to pull us left and look where it got him. One reason FDR was so popular was because he was a brilliant war time leader. His social policies are still haunting us though.
