On Tuesday, at its annual convention in Kansas City, Missouri, the NAACP approved a resolution calling on leaders of the Tea Party movement to repudiate "racist elements," characterized by a few posters and signs at rallies and events. Tea Party members and supporters disputed the charges. The St. Louis Tea Party passed its own resolution, condemning the NAACP for "hypocritically engaging in the very conduct it purports to oppose."It is nice to read an article writen with a fair and balanced perspective, showing both points of veiw fairly and evenly. Unbiased, like news papers used to be.
Thank you Mary C. Curtis, from a Tea Party supporter.
NAACP has a closet they should look in.

July 18 2010 at 1:01 PM Report abuse Permalink +5 rate up rate down ReplyWhy has the N.A.A.C.P. waited until now to speak out about the Tea Party? Could it have anything to do with how close we are to mid-term elections??? And if so, the N.A.A.C.P. should tread very carefully if they do not wish to jeopardize the non-profit status they enjoy.

July 18 2010 at 12:16 PM Report abuse Permalink -13 rate up rate down ReplyThe problem with the NAACP is that they have run out of rights to demand. So far they have gotten everything they asked for and they have a problem with not being able to show favorable results. Their excuse continues to be racism and people are beginning to believe that the accuser may be the culprit.

July 18 2010 at 10:44 AM Report abuse Permalink +13 rate up rate down ReplyThe Tea Party will not be taken seriously by me until they can prove their lack of partisan intent. The party was started by Dick Armey and was never a grassroots movement. The whole thing lacks credibility because it only exists during a Democratic administration. They were out in force during the Clinton years and disappeared during the Bush years. If the movement is still thriving and demonstrating during a Republican presidency I will be the first to join. The tenets of the Tea Party are good but the target is decidedly partisan. Where was the outrage when Bush was more than doubling the debt?

I live in Sierra Vista and I can see Mexico from my front yard (12 miles from the border). Here a large number of LEGAL Mexican immigrants such as two of my neighbors are minutemen. Glad I could dispel your mistaken impression that the minutemen are somehow racist. Minutemen are simply Americans concerned about our borders. One needn't be a particular race to be an American. I make that statement because you are obviously unaware of that fact
