Not feeling particularly high on Congress? Join the crowd. A Gallup poll conducted July 8-11 has public confidence in Congress down to 11 percent, the lowest score in its "Confidence in Institutions" survey since 1973.There will be class action lawsuits if the housing industry doesn't pick up. Congress has done nothing to encourage housing and the lenders are NOT lending. I can see a class action lawsuit against FICO, who dominates the credit score industry. One entity determines whether you can buy a home, car, etc., and it is a monopoly. If you feel that you have been unjustly scored by FICO, contact the Consumer Protection Agency, and don't forget to vote on Nov. 2

We buy foreign goods, imported duty free. Corporations left to take advantage of trade deals eliminating millions of jobs and their bottom line. We need people in congress who understand trade and the deals that were signed.

July 23 2010 at 9:21 AM Report abuse Permalink +22 rate up rate down ReplyAny Congress that irresponsibly signs bills without reading and understanding them are flagrantly derelict in their duty and should be ashamed to look any of their constituents in the eye.
July 22 2010 at 10:10 PM Report abuse Permalink +22 rate up rate down ReplyIt reflects how I feel about the government. In the 1970s, I didn't trust the government and I really don't trust them now. I think the next 10 years should be pretty dramatic as far as our economy and politics are concerned. I don't think career politicians have figured out that with the internet, we can show them all the promises that they've made and point out how they've failed us.
July 22 2010 at 8:40 PM Report abuse Permalink +21 rate up rate down ReplyJust found out today that the Obama cabinet has the least amount of appointees to have worked in the public sector, you know, like a real job as opposed to having worked for the government. Only 8% of his cabinet has ever had a public sector job. The average for other presidents has been around 50% to 60%. Doesn't that boost your confidence in our presidents cabinet having a 'Jobs Summit' run by a bunch of people who have never had a real job, with a real payroll instead of spending taxpayers money.

July 22 2010 at 10:01 PM Report abuse Permalink +16 rate up rate down ReplyOf course my confidence is very low. I am surprised that it is above 10%. What bothers me is the pervasive corruption. Their inability to truly solve a problem. Example, Financial Reform, with no accountability or dissolution of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Arrogance is rampant. Example...Pass the bill to see whats in it.
If congress spent as much time and effort into developing policies that increase private sector jobs as they do in spending money and extension after extension of UI benefits, perhaps people could afford to keep their homes and families together? But, congress continues to throw money at the symptoms instead of attacking the core maladies.
Any wonder there isn't any confidence in Congress? Passed TARP. Bailed out Banks and auto companies. Allowed financial institutions the freedom to increase usury fees for credit cards and other fees for services before enacting any legislation for "consumer protection." Failed to address the big problem with mortgages gone bad through getting the Federal Govt out of the mortgage business (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac). Then congress started discussion again on a VAT. All of the the implemented policies were done on the back of middle class tax payers. What a joke!
