Going by the Times' analysis which coded court decisions and votes by justices going back to as far as 1937, the Roberts court issued conservative decision 58 percent of the time, a number that peaked at 65 percent during the last term, which was the highest percentage since any year since 1953.With a little good fortune and some thoughtful appointments to the Court, this Court will have seen its most conservative years as bygone years. Good riddance !

While the results may be "conservative", most of these opinions have been very narrow. PCAOB v. Free Enterprise Fund, for instance, did not invalidate any rulings by the PCAOB. It only said the structure by which boar members are appointed and retain their position on the board must be changed. July 25 2010 at 2:27 PM Report abuse Permalink -6 rate up rate down ReplyIt would be interesting to hear data from the other side of the issue and how they would term it. Let me guess...the activist judges and decisions would be termed "progressive" or simply judges...and the decisions was be termed decisions, not liberal, not left wing, etc. Notice that the "problem" areas of the "conservative" court are all liberal issues that only 20-30% of people agree with. And notice that they term it as being a "problem", and reading btwn the lines, say that they are worried that even more "conservative" ideas will be enabled....horrors!!!!!

July 25 2010 at 1:45 PM Report abuse Permalink +11 rate up rate down ReplyCan anyone explain why a conserative state has not banned abortion? If there was ever a time to overturn Roe vs Wade now is the time. Republicans have been using this platform since Nixon but have done nothing to overturn it. It is not up to the president or congress to take action. A state must ban it and then it goes to the supreme court. WHAT OUR YOU WAITING FOR????
July 25 2010 at 1:43 PM Report abuse Permalink -14 rate up rate down ReplyMost states are advanced enough to realize that the choice of abortion is that of the woman alone. She has a constitutional amendment to protect her from your religious or moral views!
July 25 2010 at 1:48 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYep, those right wing activate justice's who forced king george on us are doing their best to bring back the bad old days when slaves were held, women could not vote, and the Kristen right were able to force their beliefs on everyone!
July 25 2010 at 1:38 PM Report abuse Permalink -17 rate up rate down ReplyOf course obama dosen't like the constitution or bill of rights because it dosen't tell him what power he has; it tells him what power he dosen't have. The liberals love to cherry pick the constitution and the bill of rights; like the 1st amendment they hide behind that skirt all the time, but don't want corporations to be allowed free speech to campaign for canidates? Better yet the 2nd amendment couldn't be more clear; but they want to try to ban guns time and time again.
July 25 2010 at 1:36 PM Report abuse Permalink +4 rate up rate down ReplyWhen did a corporation become a person? Giving a business the rights of an individual basically nullifies the rights of many of the people working for that corporation. Would you like it if your company donated money to and adveertised for Obama? Oh, who's trying to ban guns? There has not been one piece of legislation presented that would ban guns, in fact when right-wing whackos wandered around Obama's town hall meetings with guns, they were not even harrassed...unlike peaceful protestors that were herded into pens by the Bush administration.
July 25 2010 at 10:29 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down Replyif the supreme court were to actually do its job without fear of whitehouse and secret service put over their heads by any president they would actually stand-up for the american people and our constitutinal rights was thats what i said these are rights not privliges its elf explanatory RIGHTS they have become high above the american people and above their own laws none of this is about us the american people its about the nice cushy retirement promised from OUR tax dollar
July 25 2010 at 1:06 PM Report abuse Permalink +4 rate up rate down ReplyFear of the white house and secret service...Okaaay...but enough about whatever political crime thriller novel you were reading, lets talk about reality.
The reality is, you need a lesson in civics and government...oh, and english.
While it is going to take we Americans quite some time to dig out of the economic, political and, yes, moral hole the conservative policies of the last 30 years has dug us, it is going to be the conservative Supreme Court and all the harm it will do that is going to haunt Americans for generations.
