Michelle Obama, Sasha, and Friends To Vacation in Spain

First Lady Michelle Obama has added another vacation to her summer. Next month, she will be traveling to Spain for what the East Wing describes as a "private, mother-daughter trip with longtime family friends." The daughter, I've confirmed, is Sasha, 9, who will be in Europe with her mom while sister Malia, 12 is off at her first overnight camp.

In making the announcement, the East Wing added: "While in Spain, Mrs. Obama will pay an official visit to Their Majesties King Juan Carlos and Queen Sophia of Spain at their invitation."

The White House did not disclose Mrs. Obama's Spanish destination. Several Spanish news outlets speculated it may be Marbella, on the Costa del Sol. President Obama will not be joining his family on this trip, the White House said.

I've been told that Mrs. Obama plans no official business for the month of August.

Also upcoming on her August vacation schedule: an Aug. 14 weekend with the family on the Florida Gulf and Aug. 19-29 on Martha's Vineyard.
