Tom Tancredo Will Run for Colorado Governor as Third Party Candidate

Former Congressman Tom Tancredo will run for governor of Colorado as an American Constitution Party candidate, the Denver Post reports.

Tancredo gave Republican candidates Scott McInnis and Dan Maes an ultimatum last week: Get out of the race after the Aug. 10 primary if polls showed the winner trailing Democrat John Hickenlooper or else he would get in as a third-party candidate. Maes and McInnis refused.

Tancredo's entry into the race is likely to split the GOP vote in the general election, giving Hickenlooper a win, said Dick Wadhams, head of the state's Republican Party.

"Tom Tancredo has nobody's interest in mind other than his own," Wadhams said on a Denver radio show Monday morning.

Tancredo, who plans to formally announce his candidacy Monday afternoon, defended his decision: "I'm trying my level best to do what's necessary for the conservatives in this state."

Tancredo spoke out on the invasion of illegals- while Bush and other GOP turned a blind eye. Tancredo is a solid man.

Is anyone really surprised? Mr. Tancredo has never served the best interests of Colorado. He only seeks a stage for self-promotion. Those of you who created him (those who voted for him) have reaped your reward.

Tancredo is one of a few americans who actually tried to warn this country of the on-coming invasion of the border states...And that was well before it reached a crisis mode...The state of colorado, would do well to heed the words of this man..
