Al Qaeda are nothing more than rich mid east kids (bin Laden son of the wealthiest contractor in SA) with no career. They've been bombing since the 80s, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc. Anything that threatens their religion is attacked. When we built our air base in Saudi Arabia after Saddam took 700 tanks into Kuwait and headed for Saudi Arabia they wanted to be protected. After 911 we took out the air base and put it in Kuwait but all that did was give them the impetus to keep attacking the big guy.

The Dems wanted to stay in AFghanistan now they are giving Pakistan $6.2 billion. 63 Americans have died in July they have stepped up the fighting. We should be cutting off the supplies. How do these men in foxholes in the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan getting supplies, who is buying the stuff?? Start cutting off bank accounts.

July 29 2010 at 2:37 PM Report abuse Permalink -4 rate up rate down ReplyIs it possible to have some sort of dialog with the Taliban and Al Queda? It appears their agenda is based in the fear they have of Western culture. Certainly,
since 9/11, we have a fear of their culture.
Our concerns are based in the freedoms we wish for the individuals of these countries and an end to the suppression of these individuals. Very similiar to
handling the bully in the school yard.
An anology; a child has a passion for violin. The bully taunts the child. Instead
of engaging in a conflict with the bully he goes onto play beautiful music. The music, being in harmony with others, gains more attention then the bully could ever have.
In essence we see this example within the freed individuals that created our countries greatest art.
Rather than conflict it would be in everyones best intrest to support the existing
harmonious culture within the surpressed. Understand that harmony, support and promote that.
This has much greater strength, In God We Trust, than engaging a bully or being perceived as a bully.
Those who cling to the untrue doctrine that violence never settles anything would be advised to conjure up the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and of the Duke of Wellington and let them debate it.
The ghost of Hitler could referee, and the jury might well be the Dodo, the Great Auk, and the Passenger Pigeon.
Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst.
Nations and peoples who forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms. |
-Robert A. Heinlein
gcsimp1 and Frank, Thank you for the replies. Both very valid points and well rooted in history. And I would say to engage in any argument of such would be
contrary to this concept as these have always been the successful actions. Certainly this gives credence to the "Military Industrial Complex" and why it does exist. By it's existence we see the insanity of repeating the same actions and expecting different results. As an adjunct to violence we can also see in history the existence of those who became heros in their ability to extend peace
before the conflict and during the conflict. Unfortunately that is not an industry that is validated in it's strength. "Give Peace a Chance", however was
a very strong movement in a time of conflict. Any individual who sacrificed their life was for the promise of peace. Possibly the solution lies in the
defining of what peace is. And keeping that promise.
