Federal funds for ACORN were cut off last year after the group was accused of violating the tax-exempt status of its affiliates with overt partisan politicking. ACORN also faced charges from conservative media of voter fraud after the 2008 election.
The organization also made headlines after a video surfaced of a sting by conservative activists showing low-level ACORN staffers giving tax advice for what turned out to be a fictitious prostitution ring.
ACORN had filed a lawsuit accusing Congress of abusing its power with what amounted to a "corporate death sentence," the AP said. The appeals court disagreed, pointing out that the group received only about 10 percent of its funding from the federal government.
"We doubt that the direct consequences of the appropriations laws temporarily precluding ACORN from federal funds were so disproportionately severe or so inappropriate as to constitute punishment," the three-judge panel wrote.
ACORN's attorneys said they were considering another appeal.
The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now had described itself as an advocate for low-income and minority homebuyers. The national organization closed up shop earlier this year because of dwindling revenue, but some local affiliates are still active under various names.
Saying "theve never been convited" is the same as saying theyre guilty

No organization should have the expectation they will be funded by the government. Who ever said there should be an expectation?

Mr. Weber, many ACORN workers were convicted of voter fraud in several states. ACORN, as an organization, was investigated for fraud in 14 states. You can't blame conservative media for the illegality of ACORN's, and ACORN employee's, actions. Apparently there was enough there for them to be investigated, and their employees charged and convicted. It wasn't the conservative media that convicted them now, was it?
john black google it.

You miss the point. If you, as an individual, feel so strongly about ACORN or any other charity, why don't you fund them? Who said that any charitable organization should have the expectation of federal funding. Charity starts at home, so do your part.
Voter fraud HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Lets talk Florida and 2004. This was a such an obvious rigged election that many chose not to vote at all in 2008. When the Governor of a state is related top the President and that state looses an unbelievable amount of votes . HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
