Police are investigating a report of a bullet fired into the uninhabited Minneapolis condominium owned by Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), Politico reported Thursday.

Franken and his wife discovered damage to a double-paned window at the front of the residence when they returned home from a trip Tuesday.

Franni Franken reported the incident to police.

"Right now it's under investigation by the Minneapolis police and the Capitol Hill police," Franken spokesman Marc Kimball told Politico.

Kimball added that "nothing like this" has ever happened at the Franken residence.

Investigators have not named a suspect or said if they believe the senator was specifically being targeted.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. The first weapon in the history of man that sent a projectile flying was a sling, not a slingshot. I definitely would not want to be hit by one. Isn't there a story in the fairy story book about a Philistine being killed by a sling?

This story wrtten by Mr. Weber states the following: "Police are investigating a report of a bullet fired into the uninhabited Minneapolis condominium owned by Sen. Al Franken" If you check out this story at other sources, you find that the facts are quite different: "Something left a "very small hole in the outer pane of a double-paned window," Minneapolis police spokesperon Bill Palmer told TPM, adding that "whatever cracked the window did not remain there." Palmer would not confirm what floor the damaged window was on." Mr. Weber, for a bullet to be fired into Franken's home it must go through the window. This object (not even confirmed to be a bullet) only nicked the outer pane of a double-paned window. Please get some basic facts straight before you make these kinds of claims.

Dear "A": if you are responding to my post, you have missed the point. It is not about politics, right...left ...or otherwise. Nor is it about the 2nd amendment, as I applaud freedom of speech. I adore the power of debate and freethinking to bring about resolution and solution. It is however, about reporting the facts in an unbiased manner and letting the reader decide or come to their own conclusion. And I, like you, prefer not to be "told" how or what to think. If this "post" or article, if you will, were presented as his "opinion", we wouldn't be having this conversation and you might not feel as "heated" as you write. Or perhaps, you take offense with my 2nd Amendment right to express my opinion of "LA Mentality".

As the former Senator Patrick J Moynihan from NY once said.. "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but not everyone is entitled to their own facts!" The liberals jump all over this with their own version before the truth comes out. Shoddy journalism to say the least. Grow up!

What's the problem, isn't this just someone on the hard right exploring a second amendment solution to what they perceive as a problem? Isn't this exactly what Sharron Angle recommends? I swear the hard right has just lost their collective minds and any sense of civility!

Ah yes, the Power of the Press! Mr. Weber, correspondant, writer, EDITOR extraordinaire, your editing skills do leave alot to be desired! Did you actually confirm the facts or just write the "facts" as you would like them to be? The true colors of LA mentality! Perhaps you should check your sources. Long gone, I'm afraid, are the days of "unbiased" reporting!

Hello, Jeffrey

Please, Franken is a very smart guy; just because you disagree with someone, you needn't go straight to character assassination! And that bullet is a reminder to everyone; you can't always control the people you awaken with foolish talk of "taking people out", "reload", etc. And don't even insult me by denying these aren't active talking points on the TeaParty and conservative circuits. And don't go "3rd" grade on me by saying the progressive do it too. The statement expressed "everyone"!

I dont think this guy is the sharpest tool in the shed but to shoot at his home and maybe wind up killing his wife or family member is wrong to say the least. Yes hes part of the on going problem but theres better ways to handle removing a person from office. You just cant go out and shoot the place up.

I live in Minneapolis. This is shoddy journalism. His window was hit by a BB or a Pellet Gun. Hardly a serious threat to Sen. Frankens life. Probably a kid.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! At last someone is calling a halt to the drumbeat of vicious and demeaning comments made against people whose only sin is to think for themselves and maybe swim against the political stream. The irony of these times is that the people who most champion the Constitution are the same people who are most active in vilifying people to use their first ammendment to speak freely or to act courageously.
