Pamela Gorman, a conservative Arizona state legislator running in the crowded field to replace retiring Rep. John Shadegg in Arizona's 3rd District, has done something few candidates can figure out how to pull off: Create a viral campaign Web ad.
Her ad, titled "Driving the Left Nuts," shows Gorman firing a variety of guns (including a machine gun).
The amount of buzz generated has been remarkable. As of this writing, the video has been viewed 257,617 times. When you couple that with the support Gorman has received from national conservative blogs like RedState.com, the Web has helped Gorman's underfunded campaign drive the message that she is the conservative Second Amendment candidate in the race.
On Sunday, Gorman told me she credits liberals for the video's success: "MSNBC -- the people who hated the video the most -- are the ones who helped it go viral," she said.

In a crowded field of 10 Republican candidates (including Ben Quayle and businessman Steve Moak) vying for the Republican nomination on Tuesday, it is hard to predict what will happen. Despite being out-spent by many of her opponents, Gorman might be able to separate from the pack, thanks to her video.
In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around.
