Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

Jon Stewart is having a rally on the Mall on october 30 I wonder who else had a rally on that date he wouldn't want to say that he was trampling on the day of someone else. How ridiculous this all is -

It is very difficult to understand a governor and resident of the State of Alaska, wealthy in landscape, oil, beautiful rare animals (some in danger of extinction)can actutely face her friends in the USA and say "I want to run our country MY way". Shoot the animals, spill oil all over the landscape, drill for more in the ocean. Is this really a concerned citizen. Glen Beck is another selfish politician, whose attitude is "to Hell with anyone who doesn't agree with what I say".

I agree. the first choise in charity is to teach a man to fish,so he can care for his family and self.I taught myself to fish thirty five years ago, only to find there were no fish in my pool .I moved 1,200 miles to a new fishing hole with fish in it.You can teach a man to fish, but if there are no fish,he will have to find a new fishing hole or;eat bait.Ehhh? didya ever think of taking him to your favorite fishin hole??

During MLK's time, going to the federal government for integration relief made perfect sense...no one else could have forced black and white integration while keeping the violence down. Today Sharpton is just asking government to hand entitlements to minorities in order to enforce equality...and this is NOT something our government can ever accomplish! In fact, the more handouts government gives the further away equality becomes. If you hand a man a fish, he eats for a day...but if you teach a man to fish, he feeds his family forever! To me, taking back the civil right movement means restoring good work ethics, good family values, and restoring honest discussions of racial and political differences to every single home in America...because we CANNOT continue in the direction we are heading today...it IS NOT sustainable and too many of all races, creeds and financial status are going to be harmed when the system collapses.

SHORTLY PRIOR TO THE "RESTORING HONOR" RALLY before the Lincoln Memorial, the American Liberal Left un-leashed its typically viterative silliness for all to see and hear! Former Democratic National Committee Chair - JOHN DEAN - called GLENN BECK "racist"! THat without viewing the actual rally, not seeing its participants who looked like America's patchwork of ethnicity! The Rev. Al SHARPTON suggested "only Blacks could speak at the Lincoln Memorial"! That being a pointed reminder of MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech - it was liberally quoted during Saturday;s rally & missing remarks by the niece of MLK there too. ANY TIME AMERICAN LIBERALS WANT TO STOP AN OPEN AND HONEST DISCUSSION OF ISSUES, they employ one or both of the Saul Alinksy anarchist play-0book tactics - either: (a) Shout down the opposition, so no one is heard; and /or (b) Call the opposition "racist" - that's a sure fire discussion ender, certainly!

It was completely disingenuous of Beck..Palin and comnpany to distort the MLK jr ministry to the world. At no time in King's entire life was he ever in support of the military or their policies......A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom — Martin Luther King, Jr.

You have mistaken the purpose of the rally! While MLK was honored, the rally was NOT all about MLK. Supporting our military has always been an objective of Palin and Beck and they have every right to recognize a few of the hero's of our current and past military conflicts at ANY time! All the government programs in the world cannot provide social uplift if we do not have a stong military bacing the safetly of that government and those people. In fact, MLK welcomed our military enforcing the integration that he fought so hard to achieve! MLK's dream was not about government GIVING anyone anything! He fought so that EVERYONE had equal OPPORTUNITY to ACHIEVE! He would be horrified to see what Sharpton and Jackson have done to prevent black America from taking personal responsibility for their own achievement and MLK would be horrified to see that black America has abandoned the proud character he saw in them, in order to receive a bigger check from the very people who use their backs as stepping stones to higher office and greater wealth!

I have been living my life the last few days and though this was a bad joke. Glenn Beck a champion of civil rights. How pitiful. The president in his world hates white people and the day MLK gave his Nationally Historic I Have dream Speech was a day to redefined to suit a group of people who belong to the tea-petty movement. He and Fox news have deliberately picked this day to dishonor an American movement for righteous representation for a people who we worked to make this country greater. Not like the Australian media mogul who consistently works to destroy American morality in his media group. Check out the immorality in his ground breaking sitcoms, allows news casters to lie and fslander government employees. The day was selected to destroy more of America because he has no respect for us and Glenn Beck is a pawn.
