Van Hollen heads the Democrats' efforts to hold onto the House in 2010, and listed the party's financial strength as one reason he thinks his party will maintain control of the chamber after Nov. 2.People are angry because things haven't changed as quickly as we'd like. Change doesn't happen overnight and it doesn't trickle from the top down. The anger doesn't translate to the discord expoused by the hollow tea baggers. People do not want to be represented by idiots. The Tea party is about the media putting the spotlight on the frenzy of scattered wing nuts. This is not a viable political movement. The repackaged Bush brew is not a flavor of tea America can afford to swallow.
September 30 2010 at 10:48 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI'm more inclined to boot out everyone that's currently in office, Repubs and Dems alike. I've only voted in 7 Presidential elections, so I do not have the wisdom of many older people posting here, however, every President since I was 18 lied to get into office (campaign "promises"), then fell into the DC trap. All seem to forget that being an elected official does NOT make you king. You're servants of the people. If someone lies on their resume that they submit to me for a job, they're likely to be let go. When did the American people lose that privilege? I'd love to see term limits imposed on every politician. Take a break from your career, perform your duty, then go back to your careers to make your fortunes. To me, the American Dream has always been to make your OWN way, help others where you can, and believe in God and Country. Somewhere along the way, our elected officials have decided that they should be kings, not servants.

They are the ones who put the unemployed into this situation in the first place with their inability to manage and maintain their own companies. They shall bury their businesses as they have burried their employees. Their greed is getting the better of them. Their turn to be without money is coming soon....The millions of people who were dumped off unemployment benefits by the GOP in July will not forget who dumped them, come November. November IS payback time GOP.

When you measure the progress of the Democrats in providing these two timeless government services thru Federal Government resources you find a subpar performance ! Debt and uncontrolled immigration are the two symptoms of poor leadership and the USA is suffering from both in unparalleled scale and lack of response to decline in these two Rights ! VOTERS will express this dissatisfaction in November 2010, I was born in 1946 and have watched many Administrations in the White House and Congress, never have I seen such a detachment from Reality in the performance of Federal Duties to protect the safety/security and currency of America ! ! !
August 31 2010 at 7:22 AM Report abuse Permalink +55 rate up rate down ReplyI was born in 1942, four years before you, and doesn't make any difference. I also watched the same administrations you did and as well as you, I am a living example of the disappearance of two classes in our society, the middle class and the working, blue collar class. That occurred in the last 20-25 years, who will you blame ? Obama's administration ? Over 20 millions of illegal alliens, mostly from Mexico had been here, are you going to tell me they came in the last two years ? Come on ! Open your eyes ! All our jobs went to China and other Asian countries, who sent them there ? Obama, again ??????
August 31 2010 at 8:02 AM Report abuse Permalink -10 rate up rate down ReplyJoe, No, Obama didn't cause the last twenty years. He is simply a continuation of progressive politicians who have eroded what America is supposed to be. He has taken the socialist agenda to a whole new level and will turn America's down hill slide into an avalanche!

It's about how the American people have been treated and the citizens taking control of their lives through our elected officials. We will elect to keep more of our earned money, we will elect to have honesty in policies that are brought into law, we will elect to select our own health care, we will elect to keep our freedoms. The American people are not as slow as the polititians think we are, and we will take control of this country once again.
August 31 2010 at 7:10 AM Report abuse Permalink +32 rate up rate down ReplyThe inmates have been running the prison for nearly two years now and it's time to get them out before they burn the whole thing down for good. This country can't AFFORD to allow the democrats to keep doing what they're doing. Their lack of common sense and grasp of the severity of the precarious situation they've placed the U.S., and its citizens, in, is absolutely frightening.
August 31 2010 at 6:49 AM Report abuse Permalink +36 rate up rate down ReplyAre you saying that you want to go back to when millions of people did not have health care and the working people were footing the bill. Are you saying that it is okay for insurance company to denied treatment or denied coverage because of pre existing condition. Are you saying that people without insurance and need medical help should get it and then file bankurptcy because they cannot pay the bill. Maybe you think it is okay for people who need medical treatment will not get it because people like you think they don't need it. Are you ready to go to work in peach or apple orchay for less than minimum wages? Obama is doing the best he can with the little help that he get from the people who on election night stated they was not going to help him no matter how good it was for the american people. Is this want, to go back and really be in a worst fix than before. I have not heard the republican give no plans for anything except how to scare the public my false rumors. What the republicans don't tell you is that if they do get back in they still can't do anything because then the president will have them right where he need them. He will be able to do what all the otherr presidents before him and that is to veto . When ever we have a president who really try to help the american people , people do everything to bring them down and it do not work. Who wants someone in the office who do not take the american people side. The same people are responsiblie for the illegals to be here in the country to do the work that the american people has refused to do, because it do not pay enough. These are the same people who want the american people to apology to BP and not push them for money to help the people. How stupid can you get, here they are trying to take away people rights for something that they want and if they can get away with it, what will be next that want to get rid of. Next it will be the color of your eyes, hair, or your size. The media and electronic is good in some ways and then some ways it is not, because it give people who don't care about other people can play on people fears. Change is hard if you never had to change. But it maybe a good thing for the republicians to get back into congress and those who cry to take back their country just so the people that they have scared will see just how much power they have. You think the last eight years of Bush was something, give the republicians eight more years and if you haven't lost anything you will. The only thing I see the republicains doing is getting the american people to show their real color and that they hate the people of color for trying to get ahead and not staying down. To the white race the saying is if you white you are right and if you are black get back. Well all the presidents we have had was white and we were in a mess than too so maybe just maybe this president can get us half way out of this mess and help the american people too. Also you have to remember that what ever bill is passed under this president benefit everyone, black, white, man and female, christian, nonchristian. So unless you don't want anything that this president is doing then do not use any of the services,
August 31 2010 at 9:15 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe entire Iraqi war cost 706 billion over 8 years. OBama's stimulus package has cost 867 billion over 2 years, and the national deficit this year is 1.3 trillion. Your taxes are about to go through the roof and your medical plans are already getting big increases into place. All of this has been done by Obama's administration behind closed doors, in the middle of the night and not allowing Republicans to have a word on these massive spending sprees. In November, we will have one word for this administration..OUT.
August 31 2010 at 6:22 AM Report abuse Permalink +23 rate up rate down ReplyThe so called tax increases are a direct result of the Republican's unwillingness to pay for the tax cuts/transfers of wealth to the top, in the first place. My health care costs have increased every year for the last eight years while the benifits have decreased, so increasing health care costs cannot be blamed on President Obama. The Republicans had every chance to shape the health care bill and did not nagotiate in good faith. It was the Republicans that insested that health care remain under the control of employers while at the same time calling for this control to be removed in there road map for america. The increase in the national debt over the eight years of the administration of Presedent Bush is understated by at least 125 billion. The Republicans choose to transefer the surpluse to the top 1-2% of the country instead of removing publicy heald debt from the market. This increased intrest payments again to the top 1-2% and tax free. This increased the deficit and removed flexablity to take action in a cricess. Get your facts straight.
August 31 2010 at 9:13 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhen will the GOP put up or shut up. If they say that Obama has done nothing theh they have done less than nothing. Even folks like Beck, Limbaugh and Palin need to put their fat mouth where their money is. While Keith Olbermann is sponsoring free health clinics these sprew garbage like it's going out of style. In the words of an old song "like a dull knife that just cuttin', they are talking loud sayin' nuthin'". Nothing they say has ever been able to pass the truth test nor does it help anyone with anything. At the very least Barack Obama has given folks more back in taxes, less gun restriction and healthcare. All things the right said would not happen. What has his opponent and critics done? Thought so.
August 30 2010 at 10:27 PM Report abuse Permalink -140 rate up rate down ReplyMaybe you should look into the different charity that Beck, and the others you mentioned, have supported. Wounded Warriors is just one of these organizations that have benefited. As for the President and a truth test. He is a politician, and by default, unable to tell the truth. Bush, Clinton, and 99.9% of anyone that has held office in the last 200 years is partly responsible for the mess that we are in. Obama has not given us more in tax breaks. Every piece of legislation that he has signed has included increases in taxes. There is a reason that these bills tend to be hundreds, or even thousands, of pages. It takes a great deal of paperwork to hide new taxes. Less gun restrictions is not what he wants. Just look at his voting record on the subject. The Healthcare Bill was forced down the throats of the American people. The vast majority want it repealed. Obama does not walk on water. Try being equally critical of all politicians, since all are guilty of leading us to where we are today.
August 31 2010 at 7:45 AM Report abuse Permalink +43 rate up rate down ReplyWhat have they done ? They have put up with steamroller tactics engineered by the Democrats. They have provided a "you decide" opportunity to cut wasteful spending. They have opposed (and that can be a good thing) the poorly concieved bailout funding that has done nothing except spend a gadillion bucks to do nothing and to do it too late. They called for improvements in and real debate on the health care bill that was passed in the face of some of the most public opposition to a piece of legislation in decades and that is now coming to light as the most poorly concieved crap ever passed. It is not enought to just do - you have to do it right.

Does anyone at all really think the Democrats have a chance?
August 30 2010 at 9:53 PM Report abuse Permalink +128 rate up rate down ReplyIt is quite interesting that you are wiping a portion of our history. Let me refresh your memory: 1. President Bush initiated the bail out packages. 2. President Bush attempted to have immigration reform passed in Congress. 3. President Bush got us involved in a war in Iraq, costing us the lives of our young men and women. Both parties ran scared and supported this initiative because of 9/11. Because of 9/11 we should have obliterated El Quida with a quick strike into northwestern Afghan./northwest Pakistan. The Democrats will lose seats because that is the norm in an off year following a presidential election. What scares me the most is the control of the vocal scene by the radical right and the following they are gathering. There are unsaid reasons for this new fascination with the social conservatism in this nation. They are reaping fear and using tactics which bring out the worst in out populace-that being a huge lack of tolerance
