Republicans Reach Record-High Lead Over Democrats on Congressional Ballot

Republicans have moved out ahead of Democrats on the congressional "generic" ballot by the largest margin that Gallup has recorded in its history of tracking the midterm elections.

Registered voters preferred the Republican candidate in this year's races by a margin of 51 percent to 41 percent, up from the 47 percent to 44 percent margin in Gallup's last survey, according to its tracking data for Aug. 23-29. Gallup has been tracking the generic ballot since 1942.

The other bad news for the Democrats is the size of the "enthusiasm gap" they face against the Republicans. Fifty percent of Republicans say they are "very enthusiastic" about voting this year compared to 25 percent of Democrats who feel that way.
Congress
Gallup says its findings underscore "the fast-evolving conventional wisdom that the GOP is poised to make significant gains in this fall's midterm congressional elections."

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

This is only more proof that the American people are tired of this administration agenda for solving our countries problem. Right now people are not spending and companies are on hold until the November elections.

The recent primaries had Republican turn out double or triple that of Democrats. Historically the mid terms do not go well for the incumbent party................. the unforfilled promises of Hope and Change do not bode well for Democrats. HUNDRED OF THOUSANDS turned out for the rally in Washington. Watch the economy EXPLODE with the coming end of single party rule this November. 1) With the end of single party rule the stock market will run up 1000 points and unemployment will improve by 1 point. 2) The resulting change in Washington will likely result in some extension of the Bush TAX CUTS resulting in ANOTHER 1000 point run up in the stock market and another 1 point improvement in unemployment. 3) If the TSUNAMI of "CHANGE" coming to Washington is enough Obamacare care could be defunded or possibly REPEALED!!!!! The result will be a 1500-2000 point run up in the stock market and 2-3 point improvement in unemployment taking us back to the pre-Pelosi democrat run Congress of 4.6% unemployment and 12.300 + stock market!!!!! Far left zealots like Alan Greyson KNOW the economy wll recover quickly once the far left is tamped down and MAY try to inhibit any recovery to save their OWN SKINS!!!!!

America is finally waking up to the true values of this great country. It is not race or religion or sexual orientation. It is the core belief in self determination and the desire to better oneself. The exact opposite of this president, who believes that Americans are too weak and need a hand out not a hand up. Goverment has lost its way from the time that it encouraged people to come here and succeed - now it only encourages them to take meager handout and subsist on the government dole, and thwart any efforts by indivuals to strive to succeed. This fall we have the opportunity to drive this country in a new, strong more prosperous direction, which will make this country better for all !

cjjanis - "nope", your not on the right track with what is happening in our country. Liberals are way way off course and we are in deep deep trouble and most likely will suffer for quite some time from what they have already done. I don't agree with everything President Bush did but its much much worse with whom we have now (President, Senate, House). I not only fear for our future way of life I also fear for our nations security from aggressive/hostile nations (China, N. Korea, Iran, Russia etc.) and not knowing what the illegals comming here are slipping into our country (nuclear/biological bombs). If we continue with the present adminstrations thinking we may not become a third world nation but certinaly not the first rate nation we are at present. We need to secure our borders, keep a well equipped military for defense and stop the political parties from trying to gain power by buying their votes with our hard earned tax money.
