Sarah Palin to Obama: Be Honest in Address To Nation

Sarah Palin had some suggestions for President Barack Obama before he spoke to the nation Tuesday night about Iraq.
In a Facebook post late Tuesday afternoon titled "Humility and Honesty About Iraq Can Inspire Trust," Palin said she wanted Obama to show "grace, humility and some honesty before the American people tonight. Please don't declare 'Mission Accomplished' and then saunter away with an assumption that your opposition to the Iraq strategy was key to our troops' success."
Palin also wanted Obama to say he was wrong about the surge in 2007, when Obama wasn't 100 percent behind sending more troops to Iraq.
"Admit that the strategy long advocated by Republicans, proposed by President Bush, led by Generals Petraeus and Odierno, and executed by thousands of America's finest – our brave men and women in uniform – brought violence under control and made responsible withdrawals possible," she wrote.
In an earlier Twitter post, Palin wrote, "Obama speech tonite may make u dig out ur old Orwell books so rewritten history can be deciphered, depending on who gets credit 4 Iraq surge."
In her Facebook posts, she argued that White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said on "The Today Show" Tuesday that Obama as a presidential candidate supported the additional troops. In her post, Palin goes to great lengths to argue that Obama did not support more troops.
Without such a surge as Bush ordered, Palin said, the United States would have suffered a "crushing defeat."
Palin criticized Obama for "willful blindness" against his assessment that the 2007 surge did not work. She said her "hope is that tonight he stays consistent and looks backwards, and in this case acknowledges that credit should be given where credit is due."
Her post immediately generated comments from her followers. "Thank you Sarah, you give me such encouragement in this dark time," one wrote. "God bless you Madame President."

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Priceless. She's lecturing someone on honesty. tcsosebee, it's not fear, it's amazement usually. Quits her governership, cost the Repubs a ton of votes in 08 but she mouths off like she's a main R. If there's any fear there it's that she won't get the nomination to run in 12. Obama would slaughter her. When my mother who is 82 and has voted Republican all her life refused to vote in 2008 because of Palin, that in it's own little way told me she is poison for that party. I can't think of any R my mother would not have voted for, and I can think of plenty she held her nose and voted for, but never before did she flat out refuse. Not a good sign.

Why are the liberals so afraid of Sarah Palin. If she is what you say she is, why waste your time making these comments about her? She evidently has you terrified.

Well ya know maybe we need to keep her and Bsck out there I mean they make most everyone sick and The republicans and The Tea Party which these two represent I mean come on, to most intelligent people they are a comedy team and an embarrasement to their party. That or send them to Iraq I bet that would get the militias out of there quick

She is still seeing Russia from her porch. I will give President Bush full credit for the entire War. Had he sent troops when his Military asked instead of firing them we might well have been out before now. Yes I have no problem with giving him as well as Chenney full credit they certainly deserve that and then some.

"Madame President"? Please. She had her chance and blew it. I, for one, am glad she's confined to babbling on Twitter - and NOT in the Oval Office.

God bless you Madame President? How about something more in tune Thank you "Madame QUITTER" How many more offices will she run for and then quit--she could not handle Alaska, how would she handle the United States. Also one last thing if I am not mistaken isn't Sarah Palin an ordinary citizen? She holds no political office and was on the losing side ofthe past election---what gives her the right to demand anything from the president????? Think about it closely people----

I am a radical feminist for the past 45 years. Being such, I do abhor public comments diminishing another woman. I have to break with my own value to say the following. That Palin should be upset with Obama for not giving credit to Bush and the republicans for "the surge", is ludicrous and beyhond explanation. No one person or persons deserve any credit for this needless conflict other then our American troops, who in my opinion were exploited by the previous administration for the sake of petty revenge. There were no WMD's, never were, so WHO lied to the American people. Obama has done nothing in his term to date to lie or attempt to foil the folks. The problem is, that republicands have real problems with the truth. He has been transparent and has worked hard to clean up the mess of others. He shoulders the burden and does what he can despite the party of "no". Sarah, get a clue, you are the queen of exploitation of the American people at this point in time. Will it win you a political office or will it eventually bury you in a fog of accusation and untruths? Your constant false statements are a detriment to democracy and to the people of this country.

Hmmm, Interesting that Palin would suggest the President should be honest. When was she honest to the American People, and dont forget his opposition to the surge was predicated on saving more American soldier lives.

The only candidate I disagreed upon, which the Tea Party backed, was the race between McCain and JD Hayworth. Why Sarah Palin indorsed McCain, I will never know. Bad choice... Let's not make anymore mistakes like that...
