President Barack Obama's first news conference in four months is scheduled for Sept. 10.

The White House said Thursday that the president would use the exchange with reporters to discuss economic issues.

The event will come on the heels of Obama's trip next week to Wisconsin and Ohio to deliver speeches on the economy.

It will be the president's first news conference since May 27, when he addressed the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

Well, another one I won't be watching. Boring, boring, boring and besides that, I don't trust anything he says. Nothing done is doing any good. Actions speak louder than words. He thinks he can sway your thinking with fluffy words and empty rhetoric. No thank you.

First news conference? The man is on TV more than Larry King! Maybe he'll be able to explain how he single handedly escalated the war in the Middle East by proposing peace at an inappropriate time, or was that the plan?

Less than 10% of all America watched Obama's Iraq speech the other night. I was too busy watching a wall I painted dry to tune in myself.

Puh-leeze- call it whatever you want, but he's on TV about 5 days a week, and turns every fundraiser, fact-finding trip, graduation speech or vacation into another campaign opportunity to share what a great job he's doing, how well the economy is coming along, how we have Iraq and Afghanistan in hand, how he understands the pain of the common man and how much more of our money he's going to have to spend to finish the job he started- of centralizing every essential service and making the entire country dependent on the government while taking away the autonomy of every citizen and into in the hands of the geniuses in DC.
