It's a strange coincidence that we should have another oil rig explosion so soon, especially one not producing oil. Is it possible that sabotage or terrorist action is involved? Maybe there should be an FBI investigation. It's hard to believe that this is another safety issue. Forget stopping all oil explorations-the economy and unemployment is the worst it has ever been.

September 02 2010 at 10:59 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyCompetent regulators seldom exist: look at the SEC which was supposed to protect us from Madoffs, the Fed which was supposed to regulate the money supply for sustainable growth, the Congress which actively refused, under Barney Frank's vocal leadership, to curb abuses at Fanny and Freddy before a housing bubble could turn into a total economic meltdown. I don't know the root cause of the explosion on the non-producing rig reported today. I do not think history offers much hope that hiring more Feds will fix it.
