Former GOP Committee Treasurer Christopher Ward Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement

The former treasurer of the National Republican Congressional Committee has pleaded guilty to embezzling $845,000 in GOP campaign funds over a six-year period.

Christopher J. Ward acknowledged in court papers that between 2001 and 2007 he transferred money from campaign accounts he controlled to his own bank account, Congressional Quarterly reported.

Most of the 18 committee accounts he stole from were set up to fund the President's Dinner, an annual GOP fundraiser.

Prosecutors said Ward also falsified NRCC paperwork filed to the Federal Election Commission, CQ said. The NRCC has agreed to pay a $10,000 fine for the phony reports.

Ward could face a sentence of three years in jail, pay a fine of up to $75,000, and forfeit his house. Last month Ward signed a document accepting those conditions, CQ said.

OK I am a democrat always was, always will be .....but good folks this is not about democrat or republican. This is about a thief, And if you are a person of good morals ,no matter what race ,anglo ,black ,oriental,arabic,indian,mexican or any mixture there of ,or any religion .....Christian ,Catholic ,Jewish ,Muslim,Budhist ,or any God fearing man.........This has to upset you, I am sick of thieves ,the world is sick of thieves. And I hate to hear of it on either side of the political aisle.

No one is interested. For every Republican you can find a democrat for doing the same thing. Just face it, Republicans don't hold the prize for disnonesty. Media hype and propaganda.

The poster exhibits exactly why this country is in a "rush to the bottom" mode. "He did it too" is not an excuse. Yet, many constantly engage in it, as exhibited by the post. Set higher standards for yourself and don't excuse your own failures (be those individual or group). Then, and only then, can you criticize anyone else.
