Harry Reid, Sharron Angle Deadlocked in Nevada Senate Race

Republican nominee and Tea Party favorite Sharron Angle remains deadlocked with Democrat Harry Reid in Nevada's Senate race, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted Sept. 1.

Angle and Reid are tied at 45 percent each with the balance undecided or preferring some other candidate. They have been in actual or statistical ties in the last three Rasmussen surveys dating back to July 12.

The last time there was distance between the two was a couple of weeks after Angle won the GOP primary in June and started out leading Reid by 48 percent to 41 percent. But since then, whatever bounce she may have received from her upset victory has faded, and the barrage of negative ads from Reid has cut into that lead.
Sharron Angle, Harry ReidIf "leaners" are counted -- those voters who expressed no initial preference but were then pressed to make a choice -- Reid leads 50 percent to 47 percent. That's still statistically insignificant given the poll's 4-point margin of error.

Both candidates have a high percentage of voters who see them very negatively. Overall, Reid is viewed unfavorably by 51 percent and favorably by 46 percent, but those who say they view him "very" unfavorably number 43 percent. Angle is viewed unfavorably by 51 percent and favorably by 42 percent, while those who regard her "very" unfavorably number 38 percent. The balance of voters in each case is undecided.

Angle and Reid have about the same level of support from voters in their respective parties and are running about even among unaffiliated voters.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

I live in Nevada and there is no way I'd vote Harry Reid back in office. Reid and Pelosi will help make this a third world country. If politicians like Reid and his buddy Pelosi keep getting voted in there will be no Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid or much of anything else. China already owns us because of spend crazies like Reid and Pelosi. This country is being held hostage by Mexico, we can't afford to keep up half of Mexico. How much worse can Sharron Angle be, if she don't do her job get rid of her after her term is up. Harry's had years of doing little, get him out. Stop putting these losers back in office year in and year out.

I live in LAs Vegas and will gladly vote for Reid. The man is much better than a woman who simply cannot understand what her job is. She will be the ruin of this state if she is elected.

Living in Nevada I just want to say, I'm not voting. I want Reid out but Angle is even worse. I refuse to simply vote for the lesser of evils.

Just which part of Sharron Angle do you think you like the best, in hoping that she replaces Harry Reid-----take your choice or all of it----Doing away with Medicare and Medicaid, or privatizing Social Security, or doing away with unemployment benefits, or doing away with the minimum wage, or eliminating the Post Office, or the FDA, or the FDIC, or the EPA, or the SEC If she is elected, perhaps she will give it all to you---hope you do not lose your job or need medical help, or perhaps lose any savings you have if a bank fails, or perhaps you can just give it a good guess as to whether or not the drug you are giving your kid is safe, or you do not mind paying 2 dollars to mail a letter, and not minding wearing a gas mask when you go outside, and make sure your drinking water is not 50 percent CRAP Any problems------call Sharron Angle

Sharron Angle does not need to be perfect to be the wise choice. Nevada, this is your chance to retire Reid...take advantage of it.
