Rep. Mike Castle Goes Negative on Christine O'Donnell in Delaware

The Sept. 14 Republican primary in Delaware between Rep. Mike Castle and the Tea Party express candidate, Christine O'Donnell, continues to heat up.

The race pits a moderate-to-liberal establishment Republican against a conservative Tea Party favorite whom some worry may not be ready for prime time.

Even some conservatives are split over whether or not it is strategically smarter to support Castle (whom polling shows has a better chance of winning in November).

Castle is out with a negative ad today. The ad alleges O'Donnell, "didn't pay thousands in income taxes," "had to be sued by a university for thousands in unpaid bills," and "defaulted on her mortgage."

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

Hooray!!!! She won. When I heard the mudslinging that came from Castle's camp, I did my homework and found out that they were all lies. Unfortunately, there are those people that may not research the claims and believe the lies. I suggest for a more informed vote in the November election, Google Christine O'Donnell to find out the truth. As for Castle, his voting record was not very good. I think that she will have supporter from every party. It is a good day for Delaware. She can win.

I don't live in Delaware and don't have a dog in this fight, but I'm pretty impressed by the young woman's response where she posts actual documents on her website refuting these claims by Castle. As a conservative, if I did vote in Delaware I wouldn't vote for this guy because of the lies he is spreading about his opponent. Slymy politics as usual.
