Kentucky U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul is out with the first ad of his general election campaign.
Perhaps seeking to portray a kinder, gentler Rand Paul, the ad, titled "Gift of Sight," includes shots of Paul, who has practiced medicine and performed eye surgery for 17 years, wearing scrubs. It also focuses on Paul's experience as a doctor who "puts patients first," and stresses this is why he opposes Obama's health care reform.
The ad begins with the words,"I'm Rand Paul. I'm a physician, not a career politician."
New polls show Paul widening his lead over Democrat Jack Conway.
