A
new survey from Public Policy Polling (PPP) shows Delaware Tea Party candidate Christine O'Donnell leading moderate Rep. Mike Castle by 47 percent to 44 percent. That lead is within the survey's margin of error.
However, PPP also
Tweeted that
general election numbers it will release later show Democrat Chris Coons "clocking O'Donnell." They also note that Coons is closer to Castle than he has previously been.
Despite O'Donnell's narrow primary lead, the electability question still plagues her.
A recent column by The Washington Examiner's Mark Hemingway illustrates her problem. Hemingway argues that National Review founder William F. Buckley, who advocated voting for the most conservative candidate that is electable, would not vote for O'Donnell.
Hemingway goes on to write that "unfortunately, the issue of O'Donnell's electability goes way beyond polls. She's run an erratic and dishonest campaign.
"
With the primary just one day away, this tight race continues to be heated . . .
Our New Approach to Comments
In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers –
a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around.
