Colin Powell Clarifies Comments About Illegal Immigrants

Colin Powell is just like the current administration. They're out of touch with the American people. Sure these illegals work cheap, but once they're legal, they won't be working cheap anymore. Substandard work? Of course. Unskilled laborers playing carpenter, electrician, and plumber. Want them building your house? Not me.

Other than obama's policies ARE nonsense.....so how does paying an ILLEGAL to work help the US economy? They live 20 to a 1 room apartment and send most of their money back to the country they came from! So how does that help the economy? And how does that help the LEGAL US AMERICAN CITIZEN when you have an ILLEGAL working a job that one of them could do? To bad obama, powell & washington don't worry about the UNEMPLOYED LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZEN as much as they do ILLEGALS! And today they will vote on the Defense bill which includes AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS!!! If it passes, America is a gonner!! We'll have no telling how many ILLEGALS that will automatically become citizens with their families which will be able to vote all these dems back into office so they can get their freebies!!! Everyone better be calling your senator TODAY and saying NO to the Defense bill with amnesty included in it!!!

I disagree. Why do we need illegal aliens working in this country? When Powerll was talking he said when he calls for repairs to his house they are "all over it". Well, doingg electrical work, plumbing, carpentry and roofing are not unskilled jobs in fact most are union jobs and/or require certifications and licensing. So what is Powell saying to us now that he wants to clarify it? Does he not know that we have an unemployment rate near 10%? Those jobs he is talking about having illegals do (and cheaper) are jobs that Americans need to be doing and are looking for. Tnose are wages that need to be taxed, need to be paying into Social Security and need to be supporting American families, not those who are here illegally. This was a dumb repsonse from him but he oftens seems uncertain and conflicted. Maybe he needs to get on the teleprompter circuit too.

One thing I am certain of is this. 1. This administration and Congress refuse yes I said " REFUSE" to listen to or consider the working American Citizen, They think they can schmooz ua and we are stupid yes " Stupid" and follow them and their line. 2. Illegal is illegal. You come in any country across the borders without legal papers of enterence . Guess what you go to jail and do not pass Go. e. f. Iran with the college students. Soviet Russia, China, etc. Our representatives leave the borders wide open for votes. Thus creating a false election. 3. If you think the White House or the Congress care about us well I can sell you an ice berg in Fla. They only care about their pocketbooka and themselves. So Folks Vote this Nov. Kick all the bums out and save America. if you don't vote don't complain.

Mr. Powell can say he dosen;t hire illgal immigrants, but himand all the rest of the so called small buisness are the very ones that are promoting the illgals to come to our country.Every time I hear the word that small SBA create so many jobs it makes me sick.If small buisness are making so meeany new jobs,then why are the jobs going to illegals and not the american people.It would'nt hurt if everyone would go to the SBA web site and look up how many people you can employ and still be considered a small buisness.I'll bet you will be surprized when you see the size of the company that can claim the benifits,It sure is'nt like most people think,mom and pop have very little to do with its make up.These so called mom and pop buisness are the very same one that do 90% of the hireing of illegals,small buisness love to have illegals come across our borders they can work them cheap and reep the profits,so if you don't like it look no further than SBA because thier the ones that are doing the hireing.

Alot of contractors are hiring illegals so they can bid lower on contracts , this hurts the contractors who want to hire taxpaying american/legal workers . The contractors that hire illegals put more money in thier own pockets , and underbid on contracts so contractors who try to do things by the book end up out of work and out of business . People hiring these low bidding illegal hiring contractors eventualy get what the pay for ,shoddy ,substandard work . My husband is a contractor and has had to go in and try to fix these substandard jobs . Things like if they cut a 2x4 to short on a house frame they just cut a block and patch it so when the house started to settle the whole wall cracked in two .There was a place in Florida that the house was in the process of being built when the wind started blowing the house actually slid off the cement slab it was build on by 2 feet ( the illegals they hired forgot to attach the frame to the slab ) Thank goodness it happened be for the owners moved in ,another case a weight bearing wall was not framed right and the wall bowed to the point the roof detatched and there was an 7" gap to the outside. Not due to faulty architecture , it was due to a contractor who hired illegals to save money also decided to cut materials cost. I guess what it comes down to is, to the homeowners - You get what you pay for .Hire companies that support illegals to cut cost , they are looking at how much money they can put in thier pockets , not trying to do quality work they can be proud of.

I wonder how this worked when Powell was running the war? Did the general allow undocumeted workers by the thousands Iraquais, Iranians and Afghanis to enter his camps. No background check,let them come and go as they please, don't keep count of how many, bring their families and friends and let them live on base. They could do all the little jobs the troops don't like to do. You know like load ammo, guard duty, fuel vehicles, clean planes and KP. I think not. The general would never put his troops at risk with a tolal lack of security so why is it ok to put America at risk.

Obviously, the General was right in many ways. Their are a whole lot illegals here and everywhere you can find human existence in this great country of ours. What is the hold-up in finding a pathway to bring these people out of the shadows and into the light. They don't really have to be only of European ancestry for us to see them as humans. On our President Obama, the General who has always been the grown up in this times of politics of emotion made clear, that Decency is the hallmark of civilized behaviour, attack the president only on his policies, and not on where he was born. One country one God......Peace!

Dear Colin Powell, we already give them a status, it's "Illegal Immigrant". You do have a good point however in seeking to correct the controversy which this status causes. We should press forward to change their status to "Formerly Illegally on U.S. Soil". Then LEGAL immigrants like YOUR ancestors and MINE can continue to become Americans and join the workforce and carry the expensive load of running the United States of America. For example, Secretary of State alone costs taxpayers more per year than many hardworking Americans make in a decade!
