Christine O'Donnell Should Be Taken 'Seriously,' Beau Biden Warns Democrats

Christine O'Donnell, the chatty Republican candidate for senator in Delaware, is no laughing matter, says Beau Biden, the state's attorney general.

"She should be taken seriously," the son of Vice President Joe Biden tells CNN. ". . . My party is taking her seriously." Many Delaware Democrats wanted to Biden to seek his father's old Senate seat, but he deferred, chose to run for AG, and is supporting Democratic Senate candidate Chris Coons.

O'Donnell, a Tea Party fave who is also backed by Sarah Palin, has been haunted by remarks she made in the 1990s about masturbation, and saying she once dabbled in witchcraft. "It's not about what you see on the national television shows," Biden said, "it's about where they [O'Donnell and Coons] stand on issues."

He quickly sidestepped when asked if he thought his father might consider running for president in 2016. "He's completely committed to making sure Democrats are elected on Nov. 2 and that this administration wins in 2012 -- but most importantly, brings the change that [Biden and Barack Obama] both set out to do on cold days in Iowa" back in 2008, he said of his dad.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. just curiosity, was Capt. Beau Biden drawing two salaries while he was serving as Attorney General, and Capt.? There are those who retire from a local government (either, state, county, city, etc.) with 6 figure pensions and are rehired for their previous jobs with full pay. I see nothing wrong with it in a private corporation, but have reservations about it when done with tax payer funding. does any one know this answer. and no I am not a Republican.

I think all candidates should be taken seriously. Political power is no joking matter; especially since it potentially affects you and I. Although we can't all be expected to be as intellectually astute as some proclaim to be, we should all be vigilent in ascertaining the truth. We should not let ourselves be taken for fools. Take the time and the effort to find out the facts in every situation, rather than just jump on the partisan bandwagon. Democracy can only be effective where there is an informed electorate. Do your own research rather than take the word of so called 'political experts.' Don't be a partisan 'chump.'

Geez - I wonder if the media is liberal after all? Ya know ... Chritine O'Donnel and witchcraft? How many times have we heard that one on CNN? BUT - How many times did we hear about the members of Obama's cabinet who actually PAID taxes honestly? Not too much. Obama has apologized to every Muslim nation on earth - but we don't see it on MSNBC. Makes ya wonder don't it?

He may have given them an apology because we went to war on their Country and killed many people that were Muslins and we did so on lies. How do you apologise for that, in some way we actually murdered innoccent people how is that different from the Tower's when these people were not in any way connected to what happened to the towers. They did have a Tyrant running their Country did that mean they should die as well. We owe more than an apology for that mistake

I don't get why Christine O'Donnell gets dragged through the mud for admitting she "dabbled, but didn't practice" witchcraft when our President wrote a book admitting he did a lot of drugs. I don't know if the liberal media has ever mentioned it. These double standards seem to be standard, business as usual, Democratic politics. Also, Ms. O'Donnell admits to being a Christian. Mr. Obama hasn't joined a Church yet. Let's compare fairly here.

With just doing a little research, it appears that she doesn't have a good handle on her financial affairs. This bothers me and I am a Republican.

The Electorate is gullible. You could see this in 2008 when there was a chant abou the last eight years. Problem is that the Democrats had been the majority party in both the Senate and House since January 2007. Here we have O'Donnell and a joke about Witchcraft.People seem to have forgotten how many people were ga ga about the Blair Witch Project etc. A major cause of this Econnomic situation is a Housing bubble because of a huge inequality of Supply and Demand by marginal people purchasing Homes. Clinton made this possible in 1999 by making it possible for people to buy homes with no money down. If BMW,Mercedes and Porsche allowed people to buy their cars with no money down it wouldnt stop people from buying them and the POTUS couldnt stop them once the incentives were in place. It would also destroy these car makers just as it did Housing etc.People need to wake up because the Federal debt bubble is coming. Unemployment is not addressed when a majority of the eight hundred billion February Stimulus spent so far is spent on plugging State B

Interesting how far you want to go back to take responsibility off the Bush Administration. With two wars, a huge medicare increase, the bank bailout and a huge tax cut, Bush passed along a $5 trillion deficit. Will conservatives ever see this, instead o saying the Democrats in Congress from 2007 on caused the recession? It started in 2006. Tell me how much affect Clinton had on banks making loans without checking resources and income and collateralizing those debts into marketable seecurities? Bank deregulation started with Carter and accelerated under Reagan and especially Bush 2. Most of what happened in the housing market was greed on the part of the lenders, the builders and a deregulation of the connection between banks and investment banks. Clinton takes some responsibility but most occurred under the GOP watch...the one which wishes to again be in power and continue the policies that failed.

In years 2003, 2004. 2005, 2006 George Bush and Dick Chenney had full control and what did they do. Freddie Mae and Mac were being losded down with bad loans from Banking in 2004 and 2005. They had control and did nothing. They Blame Frank took his word that they were fine if you can believe a Republican took a Democrats word, not likely.
