Attack Ads: In the Screening Room

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

When it comes to fear ads, I find that the Republicans are more apt to use them, and more adept at using them well. Take the congressional race between Sean Duffy (R) and Julie Lassa (D): Lassa's commercial quoted Duffy, who said "I can't create jobs" (Negative, but not fear-mongering). Duffy's commercial extended the quote, saying "I can't create jobs; private enterprise creates jobs" (Also negative, but again, not fear-mongering). Of course, only Duffy's commercial ruined the moment by adding "[My opponent] deceives you" (Negative fear-mongering). Needless to say, I'll be voting for the random third party that scarcely puts a single ad on the air...

I don't like Rick to much for his lack of real knowledge, He should thanks his producer for feeding him uncooked news, but let me till you this action from CNN force me to go to Fox news just to know the real bigot is. And to remember Bernard Shaw and all other victims by CNN.
