Landra has been a full-time homemaker since the birth of his first child, in 1961. She was briefly employed by the Thiokol Chemical Co. to help pay for Reid's education.

How long have Reid and his wife been married?

Reid and his wife have been married for 41 years.

How and when did Harry Reid and his wife meet?

Reid and Gould were high school sweethearts at Basic High School in Henderson, Nev. They married shortly after she graduated in 1959 but had to elope because Landra's parents disapproved of the marriage. (Gould was raised Jewish, and Reid was not raised in a church, though they both converted to Mormonism while he was attending Southern Utah State College.)

Were either Harry Reid or his wife married before?

Does Harry Reid have children?

Harry and Landra Reid have five children, four sons and a daughter. The eldest of the children is also their only daughter, Lana (born 1961, while Reid was in law school). She is married to Steve Barringer, a Washington lobbyist. Reid's eldest son, Rory Reid, 40, is a lawyer and was elected chairman of Nevada's Clark County Commission in 2002. Rory is running for governor of Nevada. Harry's other sons, from oldest to youngest, are Leif (35), Josh (31) and Key (28). All four of his sons have worked as lawyers.
