Pawlenty to File FOIA Request on DNC and Obamacare

You might have heard about the ABC News report that the DNC filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for communications between Army departments and agencies and nine potential Republican presidential candidates. That, according to ABC News, is "a clear indication that Democrats are building opposition-research files on specific 2012 contenders."

Well, turnabout is fair play, so Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlent, one of the nine, has decided to file his own freedom of information requests with federal agencies, inquiring about the DNC's role in "promoting the Federal takeover of health care."

In a press release, Pawlenty said:
"Next weeks election isn't even here -- and it will largely be a referendum on the Presidents failure to create jobs, out of control government spending, and an ill-conceived health care bill - but I find it ironic that they have given up the current fight and are instead so focused on the President's own re-election.

But since they asked, and since they are so worried, I have some questions of my own about his time in the White House. For example, what was the DNC's role in selling Obamacare? Did Obama's political advisers know the true costs of Obamacare?"
Pawlenty's "Freedom First Pac" plans to submit FOIA requests to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and other agencies "seeking any documents related to the DNC's communications with Federal officials about the Federal health care reforms."

Pawlenty continues to come up with creative ways to garner attention -- and tweak Obama. He recently posted a popular video, welcoming the president to Minnesota.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
