Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.

It's hilarious how liberals seem to see themselves as victims. When, in reality, the country and the American people are the victims of their nefarious "social experiments"...

You mean like the suggestion that a corporation is the same as an individual person and that their billions of dollars is just their voice.. Oops, sorry.

I cant wait to see the look on republican retirees and republicans out of work as the republican policys cut ss and medicare fail to lower healthcare cost and ounce again explode our deficet notice how the first thing they want to do is increase our deficet by giving the top 2 percent a tax cut evan though having that tax cut for ten years they didnt hire anyone with that money just name any of the top 2 percent who hired one person in the last two years if you dont seriously create jobs to increase revenue you will explode the deficet getting rid of healthcare will balloon the cost of medicare evan with cuts to participants .

Back in the days when rich people would invest in our country and we were a producing nation, it was cool to give them tax-breaks ,etc...; but what I don't understand is, why are Republicans insist in staying the course by practicing " OLD POLCIES THAT NO LONGER HOLD WATER " by giving the rich tax-breaks. Today, they will either take their tax-breaks to invest in India, China or the far East. As for investing in America, they will either dump it in Wall Street, buy new toys ( made in China for the most part ), stash it in the bank. Under Dubya, these people were given 2 very large tax-breaks, and when the dust finally settled, people were losingtheir jobs by the tens of thousand each and every month - from which, two years after the GOP was gone, we still haven't recovered. I think of what a wise man said of stupidity: keep doing the same thing ,while expecting different results. The GOP told us at the entry level, if brought back, they will keep playing the tax-cut card, Americans, why are some if us dumbingdown, what is wrong with yous ?.

I am PROUD to be a Liberal for they care about people. All People. Money is a tool to relieve people of their pain and suffering. To care for people when they are unfairly treated. The GOP, Grand Old Party think that only the rich matter. It was the working force that built the enpires of the GOP. Fairness is not in the plan. Isn't this another form of Slavery? Being a Liberal doesn't mean to laid down and be run over by GOP. It means to stand up for your beliefs and fight for the rights of all Citizens.

THREE ENVELOPES A fellow had just been hired as the new CEO of a large high tech corporation. The CEO who was stepping down met with him privately and presented him with three numbered envelopes. "Open these if you run up against a problem you don't think you can solve," he said. Well, things went along pretty smoothly, but six months later, sales took a downturn and he was really catching a lot of heat. About at his wits's end, he remembered the envelopes. He went to his drawer and took out the first envelope. The message read, "Blame your predecessor." The new CEO called a press conference and tactfully laid the blame at the feet of the previous CEO. Satisfied with his comments, the press -- and Wall Street -- responded positively, sales began to pick up and the problem was soon behind him. About a year later, the company was again experiencing a slight dip in sales, combined with serious product problems. Having learned from his previous experience, the CEO quickly opened the second envelope. The message read, "Reorganize." This he did, and the company quickly rebounded. After several consecutive profitable quarters, the company once again fell on difficult times. The CEO went to his office, closed the door and opened the third envelope. The message said, "Prepare three envelopes."

yup, the tea party will turn the communist manifesto from = fail to = win. Consolidating all wealth and power to the rich, thus laying the groundwork for the proletariat to overthrow those in power and set up a communist state. =D

I just Can't wait till the new Republicans try to eliminate big government ie; SSI, medare, medaid, unemployment, wic, school lunches, laborboard, Pell grants. At the same time they want to elimate the Board of Education and Teachers Union, well actually all unions. Once this is done you will see the rest of the entitlements go, along with any happiness the working class has. They believe in servival of the fittest, forget your insurance.

Jim, calm donw. This is what MSNBC and the Huffington post adn this government has told you. This is not true. You are repoeating the party talking points word for word and this is sad. Go and find the truth. The opposing team NEVER said get rid of SSI, just make it better, medicare, medicaid, there is so much fraud, and problems that this 3000 page montrosity will make worse. I used to think like you nad repat the party talking points until one day, i actulaly did indepdnet researach and listned to actual congressional hearings (no news stations) loked up documents, saw who put the money where the mouth..and acutaully "saw the light...".lol

I don't think the answer is "rebranding" to sound more appealing to "the Right" but rather make Progressive a fierce and undeniable position respectable people can't deny. I bet you could pin the most regressive old fart to some issue that needs progress. The overwhelming problem is lack of integrity in the media and lack of media literacy among the common conservative societies in America.
