She might have a harder time in the general election. Gallup found 81 percent of Democrats and 53 percent of independents viewed her unfavorably -- while fewer than four in 10 view her favorably.
The Republucans need to nominate a "center-right" candidate if they want to win in 2012. They might THINK anybody can beat Obama. but if they nominate a far-right candidate, the independents will vote for Obama as the lesser of two evils, and the 18-29 year-old voters, who stayed home this year, will come back and vote for Obama. It is kind of "fun" to vote for some quirky Tea Party person for Congress, sending a message to Obama that many folks are dissatisfied with him. However, most folks, when voting for president, are much more careful. McCain lost, in large part, because a lot of voters saw him as being too old and also being about 10 seconds away from losing control of himself and throwing a temper tantrum. The Republicans need to nominate somebody who seems reasonable and intelligent, not extreme. If they can find such a person, they'd have a good chance against Obama. Sadly, they have a way of shooting themselves in the foot.
November 13 2010 at 12:36 PM PermalinkSarah Palin will never make a run for the presidency. Deep down, she knows the job is far too big for her. She'll end up announcing a press conference sometime around the end of 2011 or the start of 2012 and once every camera is rolling, she'll explain that she and Todd have decided running a campaign across all 50 states is too demanding on their family. Then she'll take a few last parting shots at the Lamestream Media and position part of her decision on the harsh scrutiny that comes with running for office. Of course, if she surprises us and decides to go through with it, at least on the 2012 debate prep, she'll know who Margaret Thatcher was this time around. Bring it on... Palin/Nugent 2012.
November 13 2010 at 12:22 PM PermalinkPalin has no interest in being president, just like she had no interest in finishing her commitment as governor of Alaska. Her goal is to keep republican interest high in advance of 2012 and to cash in along the way.
November 13 2010 at 12:22 PM PermalinkObama was elected President without experience. He certainly knows nothing about handling foreign affairs. He has made Americans look like wimpy, arrogant losers. His domestic performance has not been great, either. I like Sarah Palin but do not want her to run for the presidency. I prefer her to run for Congress first. Her traveling about the nation and speaking is no different from others who do the same. I don't hate Mr. Obama. However, most of you seem to be Palin-haters and perhaps Democrats. All politicians unfortunately have self-interests in mind; otherwise, our nation would have less problems.
November 13 2010 at 12:13 PM Permalink -1She is a true opertunest. Pay her and she will be there. Buy her book and she will be there. SHE'S EVERYWHERE SHE'S EVERYWHERE SHE'S EVERYWHERE REPEAT 47 more times
November 13 2010 at 12:13 PM Permalink +1everyone was upset about the big execs makeing 10's of millions in boneses and compensation for screwing over the american people so they vote the republicans in so they will vote that these same execs don't even have to pay taxes on it smart real smart.
November 13 2010 at 12:11 PM Permalink +3Don't believe everything you read and only half of what you see! Love Sarah Palin! You go Girl!
November 13 2010 at 12:10 PM Permalink -6As I recall, there were quite a few political crooks that Palin helped to expose in Alaska. I've wondered for a while if some of the current politicians who claim not to care for her and use the explanation that she is not experienced and she has flaws are in fact more worried themselves whether she'll do in Washington what she did in Alaska by exposing them. I realize she might alienate some people due to her quirky ways and other things. I like that she gets right to the point and gets the job done. She doesn't waste time and money with office politics. She admits her mistakes and seems to learn from them. I would rather have someone honest like her in office than the alternatives.
November 13 2010 at 11:47 AM PermalinkSay what you will of her but she is laughing all the way to the bank...You who support her are making her and her family wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. Do you think she flies all around the country without compensation and the best of ammenities. Surely you are not that naieve. While she is getting richer you are still in the same jobless, health plan strapped, financial mess. Yet you listen to the things she and her political mentors say that will keep you there. Oh well we all make mistakes in our lifetime. Lets hope this facination wears thin and off soon. I almost forget to mention her new TV series. Even richer yet.
November 13 2010 at 11:46 AM Permalink +39Perhaps over the past two years, the media frenzy to get eye candy of Sarah Palin has finally leveled out. We have seen her on our televisions daily and the News media reports on her daily movements. Maybe we all finally see there is really just a curb study without any substance. Sarah gets paid to say the same thing and anyone who is against government and especially againt Obama and any Democrat is her alai ...so what can we do about this Rock Star without any voice or talent to support the fame? Stop buying it! I know you'll feel at a loss at first, but do you really want to evenn watch her daughter on Dancing with the stars? Do you care about Sara's Alaska? Do you want to see her family for the next 8 segments? Do we want to really see and hear her husband Todd? Do we know anything about the son who was in trouble with the law and has a police record? Yes, he's away somewhere in the service fighting for our country but we didn't even hear about him on Veteran's Day! Strange......maybe it's because Palin is dealing with her privacy issues! Anyone who ever listened to her prompted talks knows that she grabs what she can. Man up. Ma ma Grizzly is a nobody with fangs......... Let her take a test for politics without using the buzz words. Does she know how the courts work? She talks about the constitution but did she ever read it? Ok, thanks for letting me sound off about Palin and her ability to serve.....sorry but this would truly be a black day in history if she runs for President.
November 13 2010 at 11:44 AM Permalink +19Great post, Sheila, and the over-exposure of Palin is beyond compare! Now, media, let's start focusing on some of the other potential candidates: Romney, Huckabee, Pawlenty .... Christie? They are fascinating in their own right.
