Sarah Palin (Lame)bastes the Media: Happy Thanksgiving!

For most Americans, Thanksgiving was a day to spend with family, dining on turkey and dressing, perhaps jogging in the local turkey trot before sitting down to gorge and later watch a little NFL.

We gave thanks -- for our family, our friends, the food and our fortune, no matter how large or small. Millions also helped the less fortunate, from donating to the local food bank to volunteering at a dinner for the homeless to tossing some extra cash into the church collection plate on Sunday.

But Sarah Palin's Thanksgiving Day priorities were clearly different.

There's no word on exactly how the former Alaska governor observed the holiday, which falls in the midst of a book tour and her reality/travel show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska." But instead of basting, it looks Palin spent the day lambasting.

Such is her hatred (and let's call it that, she and daughter Bristol have thrown the "hater" label around plenty in the last week) of the "lamestream" media that she was compelled to write a Facebook note on the holiday bashing the press for pointing out her Wednesday radio gaffe calling North Korea an ally.

Her post starts with an italicized paragraph satirizing gaffes made by President Barack Obama in the past, then goes on to defend her "one-word slip" in the middle of "seven back-to-back interviews." (Clearly, she wasn't grocery shopping for the family meal on Wednesday, like the rest of us.) She takes two more paragraphs to continue her media massacre, then ends on a happy note:

"Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!"

Contrast this with Obama's holiday message and actions. He handed out Thanksgiving food to the needy on Wednesday and acknowledged the tough economic situation for many Americans in his Thanksgiving Day message. He called troops overseas to thank them for their service. He said he was "thankful for the privilege of being your president."

Palin's holiday greeting, if you can call it that, offered nothing positive and not much in the way of thanksgiving. So why couldn't she wait until Friday morning to hit publish?

Maybe the post isn't a true Palin product -- perhaps her communications adviser Rebecca Mansour crafted this holiday missive. The portion denying media reports that Palin lobbied "Dancing With the Stars" to include failed Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell echo some of Mansour's tweets from Wednesday.

If that's the case, perhaps Palin needs some new advisers who don't reinforce the defensiveness that often comes across in her social media presence.

If not, I hate to think what vitriol is in store if Palin gets some bad press around Christmas Day.

Here's an idea: Consider the reason for the season. Try out a bit of the humility and forgiveness exhibited by Jesus Christ. Consider spending a bit of those millions from the book deals and the TLC show to do something for others less fortunate than you -- and there are plenty of unemployed folks out there who could use more than just anti-Obama lip service this holiday season. And perhaps try offering your fans -- and non-fans alike -- a positive message for the holidays.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Isn't it scary that any moronic woman from Alaska can run for president? He show scares me away even more. That squeaky, hillbilly voice makes me cringe. It's the mainstream television viewers that, through the media influence, fall for this uneducated, inexperienced, media monger.

I looked up the word condescending in the dictionary and it had Sandra Fish's picture next to it. Sandra, send your resume to Sarah Palin to be her communications director. You obviously disagree with her media attacks, but they clearly have nothing to do with President Obama's Thanksgiving message. Of course he should be positive in it. Sarah Palin is not the President of the United States, yet. It could happen, anything can happen. She is definitely in the mix at the moment. All the snooty attacks on her have only increased her public recognition. Have you not figured that out yet? If you do not want to wake up one day to President Palin you should stop helping her get there. Have you not noticed that all the smug attacks on her increase her popularity? Tell us how much worse off we would be today if Sarah Palin was president instead of Obama. Think about that one and write us a piece on that.

I am still waiting to see some of that "humility and forgiveness exhibited by Jesus Christ" in the mainstream media.

This article is another biased article against Sarah Palin. The main stream media has constantly slanted every article written to pick at any slip or gaffe. In this article Obama is treated with respect he may or may not deserve. His comments of being to all 57 states, and others when not reading from a teleprompter are shown in comparison as human errors. Clearly Sarah Palin's comments and a slip of the tongue which is more human and understandable when SOUTH KOREA is an Aly while NORTH KOREA is an enemy of the USA to slip and call North Korea an Aly than to not use the appropriate number of states in the US as Obama has done opens more serious questions. The bias media continues to act and treat the American Public like a mob of morons in this bias coverage--but just as November 2010 has shown, WE THE PEOPLE are the ultimate boss in ANERICA and FOX NEWS ratings soaring above all of the LIBERAL BIAS networks isn't just a coincidence, it is the voice of WE THE PEOPLE.

Hurly Burly,
If anybody represents We The People, it's not someone shooting a helpless
animal from an airplane, or targeting a woman by encouraging the public
to re-load, and make her a target, and someone did exactly that? What if it was someone you cared for at the mall that day? Is that the legacy you want for the conservative party because it's the closest thing to nazism to condemn someone for not agreeing with you?? You just went back 1,000 years into
the cave, and no part of We The People.

its because you guys in the media cant stand this woman. She is too conservative, too good looking and and it drives you feminists crazy. I think you guys owe her an apology for smearing her regarding the "death panels", as now evidence shows that she was actually correct regarding death panels...so wheres the love and apology for your fellow women from the feminists? Oh i forget again, she's too conservative and too good-looking for feminists to stoop that low.

Sarah Palin is far more qualified to be president than B Hussein Obama! This board looks like it was made for Huffington Puffington Post. Of coarse it's nice to see that the progressive are finally awake, most of them sleep until noon! You will notice that early on the boards lean to the right then after the working class goes to work the progressives wake up yawn and look for ways to tell you how to run your lives!

well we will soon know how mr Obama will deal with North Korea...as for the Palins why do some fear/hate them so much...is freedom of speech only for those you agree with...how do we get our politicians... all of them to work for Americans first...our troops protect borders elsewhere but cannot patrol our own ? maybe we should model our policies after Mexico's ...how do they handle their southern border...what are the rules if foreigners want to work there...agree or not Sarah Palin will speak her mind and mostly with out a teleprompter ...PLEASE quit picking on Bristol she is just a kid not unlike some that we all know in our own lives...

Sarah speaking her mind is the problem with or without one of those evil teleprompter that most MODERN people use. You see you have to be able to speak a sentence with some hope that it makes sense, which SP couldn't do. I find it cruel really that people like you try to make this woman think she is something she isn't and she is too mentally challenged to realize what a fool she is making of herself and her family.

I agree she needs to stop passing the hate around, I can not believe anyone in the tea party would want to have her around.

Not just another Thanksgiving but another chance to say extra thanks for our country and the generosity of Americans who when enjoying the very things that encourage family and life they stop to be thankful because that's who we are. Don't listen to any other voice (country) that says we are not the best because we are. We are not perfect and we are not finished yet...we keep trying to get there and voices spring from the countryside's and the cities to make their concerns the main discussion and it all works to the good of the nation where free speech is based on a document that was formed at a time when great thinkers wanted to create a place where men and woman could rise to be the best they could be working together to form a more perfect nation and thus in every small way changed their own little world and impacted the rest of the known world. Happy Thanksgiving
